OT,
On friday, I have my first interview for a job ever. It is for a three month internship in Florida with a global capital markets firm. I have no idea how to prepare for it tho. I have never been interviewed for a job before, and this isn't like some entry level easy job, so I'm very nervous.
This is what they ask for in the interview:
Here is what we look for in you, both in the interview process and when you join our team:
Problem Analysis
Identifying and breaking down problems.
Selecting and using information in a structured way to generate options and recommend solutions that are logical, ethical and realistic.
Judgment and Decision Making
Selecting and using information to make sound and balanced judgments.
Evaluating the risks of alternative options and making confident decisions in the face of ambiguity or incomplete knowledge.
Innovation
Generating new ideas and creative approaches.
Understanding the need for change and challenging existing practices.
Demonstrating an appetite for continued learning and expanding a personal skill set.
Communication and Impact
Conveying information clearly, articulately, and succinctly.
Influencing others and making an impact through effective interpersonal skills and a dynamic communication style.
Drive and Commitment
Demonstrating the determination, effort and enthusiasm to deliver results.
Showing initiative, originating action and consistently striving for excellence.
Overcoming barriers, failure and criticism.
Teamwork
Working collaboratively and being prepared to support team members, as well as pursuing personal objectives.
Encouraging others to participate, listening to different viewpoints and working to reach a consensus.
Planning and Organizing
Organizing own work, making good use of time and staying focused on priorities.
Developing and monitoring clear action plans with realistic deadlines, and setting time-scales that take account of the available resources.
Amending plans to take account of changes.
They also asked for a short paper on an emerging market due Friday morning.
OT please help!
Cliff Notes:
- Never been on an interview for a job
- Have my first one on friday over the phone and need help preparing -
id go over each key point and make a small index card and put them in alphabetical order and when asked be able to quickly find the card while saying "I believe that planning and organizing...bam you have the card and answer whatever" Talk about it beforehand to someone and just go over everything so you arent nervous when talking about a certain subject...if you dont want to do it that way, just have lists of stuff pulled up on your laptop and have some short phrases that relate to questions you think he will be asking, gl
edit: if those arent specific topics which i cant really tell if they are, you should still have an idea what they are going to ask about -
You think they are gonna ask standard hr questions rather than more focused to the job questions, if so, what are good answers to those generic questions they usually ask?
