-
If you dont like KSE....nothing I can do to help ya here.

Edited By: Autolobotomist Feb 12th, 2011 at 04:56 AMNone of those bands are hardcore, they're generic Hot Topic garbage metal, but whatever, I'll let that slide. No I won't. You're kind of a faggot for calling them hardcore.Originally Posted by BigGreenReptar

Even though everyone will hate them, just for reference, here are some actual screamo bands.
Reversal of Man
Hassan I Sabbah
Ampere
Saetia

Dude, Ashes of the Wake was one of the top 5 metal albums of the last decade. You probably didnt give it a chance.
I skimmed quickly but didn't see Machine Head mentioned. The Blackening is a great album. (Youtube Beautiful Mourning, Aesthetics of Hate, or Davidian if you like old school)
Try Amon Amarth (Youtube Pursuit of Vikings, or Ancient Signs of Coming Storm)
Kataklysm (Youtube Taking the World by Storm) <--- current addiction for me
Metallica, Type O, Alice in Chains, Ozzy, Megadeth, Sabbath, Floyd, some of my all time favs -
as i lay dying?

I wasnt talking about your post, the op called the suggestions I made screamo. i forgot to quote him so calm the fuck down

we opened a show for them once in OKC and I've never been so turned on and so scared at the same time. the lead singer is fuckin' amazing. For sure a must see live show.

check out The Human Abstract. Their first album is the tits, second not so much, but their new album about to be released should be good with new lead singer Travis Richter.
from their first album nocturne
song sampler from their new album
Autolobotomist, you got some good choices too, only heard of a couple of those bands, thanks for the new material -
Neither of us were talking about my post.
-
sooooo you were talking about mine????
Edited By: BigGreenReptar Feb 12th, 2011 at 06:43 AM
I'm not going to argue about genres because thats fucking retarded, sorry if not differentiating between metalcore or deathcore or hardcore or whatevercore offended you. I didnt think the OP would know the difference and considering thats who I was talking to in the first place (not you) i wasnt really thinking about whether or not autolobotomist likes my taste in music when I typed that post. I dont like 3/4 of the bands other people have suggested here, but I figure to each his own...so i keep my mouth shut. -
Lots of fail itt but some great bands mentioned. Something to consider about metal is this isnt pop music. Bands rarely can continually produce the greatness of their breakthrough album/albums. There are tons of bands that have 1 or 2 albums that i absolutely love and spin religiously, but dislike the rest of their work. This is why, generally speaking, a bands earlier work is usually regarded as their pinnacle compositions. It usually takes the angst and aggression of teens/young adults who are broke beyond all hell and trying to live their dream to produce the top notch stuff. There are exceptions however. These recommendations arent for the OP per say, while Ive listened to all of his examples and still occasionally do, i wouldn't consider any of their work in the top 100 albums. Most importantly, music is objective, and to each their own. If Lady Gaga makes u feel the way these albums make me feel, then the artist has succeeded imo.

Maybe you'll like one of these.
xNueva Eticax, pissed off Argentine beatdown hardcore. Understanding the lyrics isn't important if it makes you want to run through a wall.
Ringworm, Clevo metallic hardcore in the vein of Integrity. The only good band left on Victory. (updated to post studio version, not crappy live version)
Disfear, Swedish D-beat with Tomas Lindberg from At the Gates
Oathbreaker, Belgian metalcore (not shitty mallmetalcore). Yes that's a chick doing vocals.
Rise and Fall, more awesome Belgian metallic hardcore.
Cut the Shit, thrash.
SSD?
nope...SSS (short sharp shock, from england),they crush, but SSD is also a good choice, but only early SSD, nice call on disfear as well -
Edited By: donkiman Feb 13th, 2011 at 05:13 AMUsually not into screamo but these songs were actually pretty good. Always respect music that impresses me from generes I would normally not have listened to.Originally Posted by Autolobotomist

Someone suggested Machine Head (already a fan). About to try out Opeth... any song suggestions?
**EDIT** Officially an Opeth fan. Wow. Just wow. -
Time to post some other stuff that I'm not sure will be all that well received but that is actually metal instead of hardcore like the first few bands I posted. I like doomy Black Sabbath worship :)
Edited By: Autolobotomist Feb 14th, 2011 at 01:59 AM
Ufomammut: Italian drone. Atmospheric, plodding and crushingly heavy. Idolum is one of my favorite records to grind to because it's always interesting in the background, but doesn't demand attention.
Zebulon Pike: instrumental doom/stoner/psychedelic metal.
Landmine Marathon: silly name, serious metal. Just fucking \m/. Heavy, sometimes thrashy. I love Grace, you can't have her (yes that means this is another band with brutal chick vocals). Ryan Butler is a fucking straight up LEGEND in underground metal/hardcore for his work in bands like Unruh and Structure of Lies.
Ephel Duath: jazzcore? Technical, mathy, jazzy, HEAVY. Trust me.
Brainoil: doom.
Doomriders: surprisingly, not doom. Go figure. Sometimes a little doomy I guess, but not here. If you don't dig this song, take your shitty ears back to where ever it is that you bought them and get a refund.
Kruger: I dunno. Just a righteous, driving metal band from Switzerland. I really like their drummer.
Saviours: more stoner/doom. Probably go to Hell for listening to this. this song sounds kinda like a demagnetized cassette tape, but it was the only version I could find. It's way more bottom heavy than this youtube video makes it sound.
Boris: Japan's finest prog. Sometimes sludgy, sometimes psychedelic, sometimes almost thrashy. These dudes are all over the fucking map. This song is like teriyaki Motorhead :D
Form of Rocket: not really a metal band, maybe post-hardcore? I don't really know, but dammit they're awesome and I posted too much doom. Sorta like if New Bomb Turks and a metal band had a baby.

From here on this post is mostly going to be about aurally fellating myself and making you guys hate me for posting a bunch of stuff that you'll probably think is unlistenable garbage. These songs will become increasingly abrasive as you move down the list.
Breather Resist: angry math/prog. Like Dillinger Escape Plan except this band is actually worth listening to.
Seven Sisters of Sleep: listen to this band and reserve your place in Hell today! If by any chance you actually like this (nobody will) check out Tafkata.
Kiss It Goodbye: maybe the most pissed off band ever. This vocalist is more pissed than anything you've ever heard, he sounds utterly unhinged. Descendant of the band that is most responsible for hardcore and metal crossovers, Rorschach. If you ever break up with a broad and you need to get into a frenzied enough state of mind to commit homicide this song is for you.
Creation is Crucifiction: tortured, noisy metalcore.
Groundwork: 90's metal/hardcore. A contemporary of the aforementioned Unruh and from the same 90's AZ hardcore scene. Everything out of print. If by some remote chance you dig this PM me and I'll hook you up with records you simply will never, ever find. Nobody will.

Look for the songs "No pity on the ants" from Lupara and "Sickness within" from Hatesphere on youtube.
Edited By: Kustodian Feb 13th, 2011 at 10:47 PM
I also recommend the bands Strapping Young Lad (Detox is my fave song), Susperia (look for "Chemistry" and "Home Sweet Hell" on youtube), Skeletonwitch, Napalm Death, Bloodsimple, Into Eternity (look for the song "Timeless Winter"), Vile, Bleeding Through, Vader, Suicide Silence, Hypocrisy. Also, the XX album from Mushroomhead is pure gold, in my opinion.
Hope you like those. -
Autolobotomist - Ufomammut and Brainoil just fucked my metal G-Spot. Thank you. Listening to Kruger right now, very solid. Will listen to the rest tonight during the grind session. I have a feeling Ufomammut will become a favorite of mine.
Question, what CD is that brainoil song (inquisition) from? Can't find any info on it. -
Edited By: Autolobotomist Feb 14th, 2011 at 02:03 AMSelf Titled on Life Is Abuse Records. Order here. I'd email them before ordering as it may be out of print. They may have a mailing list and let you know if it gets re-pressed. If it is out of print it looks like googling "Brainoil Self Titled" finds a couple of Mediafire links.Originally Posted by donkiman

I totally second Kustodian's recommendations of Vader and Skeletonwitch
Metal-Archives and the Encyclopaedia Metallum will become your new best friends. The first is their forum where metal nerds) get nerdy, the second is an expansive information site.
Last.fm is a site that tracks what people listen to and makes recommendations for other stuff they'll like based on what other people who also like what you like are listening to. You can start a profile and download their app and it'll track every song you play through a mediaplayer on your PC. alternatively you can just go to the site, type in a band name and it'll play a station of similar artists, for instance the Brainoil station!
And Bandtoband.com is a family tree site for music where you can search for a band and it'll show you a tree of other bands that your band's members were in. -
Glad you're digging some of this stuff. I'll post some moar!
I dunno what you thought of my page one post, but dammit hardcore is awesome so I'm starting there again.
Living Hell: more heavy metallic hardcore, like Ringworm.
From Ashes Rise: D-beat/hardcore.
Skitsystem: Crusty D-beat.
*************************************
More metal starts here.
*************************************
Yob: next best thing to UFOmammut
Pod People: DOOM! Maybe the only thing Australia has ever produced that I give any kind of shit about. (possibly mathclub excepted if he's not from New Zealand)
Infernal War: thrashy Polish black metal. Probably the only black metal band I listen to somewhat regularly. There's some debate about whether or not they're nazis. They say they aren't so I'll take them at their word because they're awesome. They're pretty WWII obsessed though.
Church of Misery: mass murder obsessed Japanese psychedelic doom/sludge.
Arsis: techy death metal.
The Black Angels: not metal. Psychedelic rock. Like Jefferson Airplane meets Black Sabbath meets the Velvet Underground. It doesn't really fit with the other stuff, but I fucking love this band so much.

man, auto, we could hang out...skit system rules, as does most anything japanese, or scandinavian metal/hardcore wise
