Maybe be just a tad bit early for this thread.... by 4 Months!!

He can get pek pek everyday all day for the rest of his life in the PI.

Cotto's a nice fighter in his own.... but he has about a .1% at beating Pacquiao.
-
Cotto is definitely better (and bigger) than Hatton. Also, the fact that he is naturally a counterpuncher may suit him against Manny's aggressive style unless Pacquiao also decides to sit back and let Cotto attack him (which he is more and more capable of in the last few years). Also, Cotto has a murderous left hook to the liver and Pacman has been stopped by body punches before albeit at smaller weight classes where he was draining himself to make weight.
That said, Pacman's footwork will allow him to get in and out while throwing his lightning quick combinations against a plodder like Cotto. Also, Cotto has been hurt by smaller guys like Ricardo Torres and Chop Chop Corley (though again those fights were at 140 where Cotto was killing himself to make weight), but Pacman is certainly capable of hurting Cotto as well.
Based on that, I see Manny winning via late TKO or UD where he uses his speed to systematically break down Cotto. Cotto does have a better shot than Hatton, though, and if he can time Pacman coming in like Juan Manuel Marquez did in his two fights vs. Pacman--which is much easier said than done not only because of Manny's speed but also the fact that he gives his opponent awkard angles making it very difficult for him to get cleanly-- he may be able to hurt him. But, Cotto is not a master technician and as great a counter-puncher as JMM, so I am going with Manny. For betting, if Manny is a heavier than 7:4 favorite, I would go with Cotto (I think betting opened on most sites with Pacman as a 2:1 favorite).
I really hope the winner of this fight ends up fighting the winner of Mayweather-Marquez. I think Pacman and Mayweather will win their respective fights, but regardless of the outcomes of the two fights, that would be a great match. -
Plus you should consider with the level of fame he has, how much he gets off of sponsorships and the percentage of PPV buys. He made over 12million for fighting Hatton alone. I mean as far as boxers go he is the only superstar left in boxing at the moment IMO (lets face it floyd is good but pacman is way more famous and exciting). There is no fighter in ANY combat sport banking like pac man right now.

On top of that he is beyond celebrity in the Philippines. The way he balls out here is more comparable to like a president or something.

lol. I haven't seen a line yet but I can already guarantee there will be a ton of value in betting Cotto because the average fan thinks this way.

Cotto is the bigger man, is immensely skilled, and is tough as nails. It is a 50-50 fight in my mind. -
Miguel Cotto is a beast. Anybody calling him a sissy or saying he has no chance against Manny needs to get real. He showed huge heart last time against Clottey..... his only career loss came against a man who had plaster in his gloves.

Do not underestimate Cotto.
