This for sure. Even thought about right when he said it and figured Marquez would just try and sneak by in the 12th.

I wonder if everyone who thought Pacman would brutalize Mayweather still think that way after this fight.
-
Winning the last round ain't changing 116-112 around thats for damn sure

Manny threw and landed more through most of the fight (Marquez landing more to the body and some bigger shots to the head) and on top of that: generally in a even round whoever is pressing forward or throwing more (even if its not landing) will get the nod. Its completely dependent on the judging style though, this fight was too close for anyone to say there was a clear winner.

I've often thought Manny would have to employ De La Hoya's strategy, and just stay in close and throw throw throw, with the difference being Manny can probably throw without running out of gas like De La Hoya. But I still think Floyd may be too much for Manny, but I def want to see it.
-
Some LOL comments after the fight:
Arum - "Many people thought Marquez won this fight.......particularly Mexicans".
Post fight analyst - "Filipino gamblers are a large asset to Las Vegas. I am not surprised Manny won". -
They announced the cards. 116-112 scored rd 12 for JMM. The 115-113 card and 114-114 card both scored Rd 12 for manny. JMM goes out and tries in Rd 12 and he wins the fight

In boxing 1 fighter can beat the shit out of another, but have a tough time with the guy whom the guy he previously murdered beat. It's like a triangle, Just cause Paper beats rock and rock beat scissors doesn't mean paper is going to beat scissors.

De La Hoya had the size and reach advantage over Floyd to be able to effectively jab Mayweather for the first 4-5 rounds of the fight. Pacquiao does not have that advantage, so he is going to have to use his quickness and footwork to jump in and out to get to Floyd and Mayweather will likely time him even better than Marquez did. That's just my quick take on a potential Mayweather-Pacquiao matchup.

Roach saying in post-fight exactly what Manny should have been doing all night, and I can't understand why Manny can't figure it out- move to your right away from Marquez's straight right and right uppercut counters. Manny needs to figure out a way to think and adjust in the ring. You can't get away with all that wild, off-balance shit against someone who knows what they are doing. That's why the Floyd fight (if it happens) will not be close.
-
Thank you for that illuminating explanation. That was not my question, though.

Do you think Pacman should be a favorite over Mayweather? -
So the guy with the most fraudulent card thought Marquez WON the 12th? What is this I don't even...

I don't think the consensus is that Marquez blew him out of the water... but listening and reading everything right now, everyone except those 2 judges either had it a draw or a slight Marquez victory. No one is saying "well, I scored it to Manny." Therein lies the problem... -

Styles make fights people. Another factor is that Marquez has fought Pac man before (twice) so he was much more prepared for pac man's schizophrenic fighting style plus the fact that he is insanely hard to finish. That being said I think Floyd has a slight edge as long as he can stay away from any heated exchanges and stay on his bike, doubt that wins him the fight in the hearts of the fans though.
I'd peg the line at about -140 Floyd +120 Pac man -
so true. it's a matter of how different styles match up.
-
Everyone keeps saying this without taking into consideration that Floyd's style will be more difficult for Manny than Marquez's. Manny struggles against counter punchers as we all can see. Floyd is MASTER counterer. The only saving grace Manny has had against Marquez is size and speed. That will not be the case against Floyd. I have yet to hear anyone offer a solid explanation why the Floyd fight will not be a wash.

LMAO HTF can ANYONE say JMM did not win this fight not? Everything about this is LOL. 150 trillion zillion% to keep Mayweather in the discussion. JMM countered him the entire fight landed the harder cleaner shots showed the better defense and because Manny throws more punches he wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION!?!?!?! The 116-112 gives it to JMM in his worst round and the others give it to Manny? Does that not seem suspicious to anyone? Like Oh fuck look at my card these people are gonna know I just owned JMM's soul I better give him this last round so it dosen't look too crazy LOL. Does anyone know the compubox #'s?And, of course some analysts are going to say yea it was a close fight but Manny pulled it out to keep the millions of dollars flowing into the sport. They get payed through boxing just like the boxers do. I am so fucking tilted I can't even see straight. I mean just look at Manny as he goes to his corner after the 12th he KNEW he had lost the fight. Even Freddie told him he was losing the fight and needed the KO! Anyone that sees this different are either A) Have no clue what boxing is or B) is Phillipiano or just a Pac nuthugger. Keep paying hundreds of dollars to get ass raped by pocket liners and promoters. I'll just watch the undercards for free and then run over my laptop with my car. Suck me sideways.
Oh yea, LOL Bob Arum. "This 4th fight is going to break records in PPV". Real fucking smart to say LOFL after you just robbed someone to make more millions. Just SIGHHHHHHH. One more thing. If Pacquaio can't beat a great counter-puncher HTF is he going to beat the greatest counter-puncher in the game? -
agreed #1.. #2, i liked it because the result probably will make Pac Man a bit more of an underdog which i will take. Styles makes fights.. for every person that says Mayweather handled marquez, just remember what Pac Man did to de la Hoya, which mayweather only won by a split as an example. Pac Man will ruin mayweathers day

if JMM wins that round cards end 116-112 (P) 114-114 (T) 115-113(M).he doesnt win the fight.... and i mean people are acting like manny didnt hurt JMM at all or something with the volume of punches he was throwing. Just look at each guys faces in the post fight interviews with kellerman. The only thing on manny is a cut caused by a butt -
"By night’s end that mattered little. Instead, another fight between these men ended in controversy, no questions answered, except perhaps one. It seems now that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the top pound-for-pound fighter on the planet."

Yes I watched the entire fight and saw Marquez fight a PERFECT fight while Pac wasn't in top form. If JMM can have a 6-10 1st round in the first fight and come back and make a draw out of it (which was still controversial). And lose by one point from the KD in the 3rd from the 2nd fight (also controversial although I agree Pac won both of those fights). HTF can JMM lose this fight with one score card reading 116-112?!?!

This fight was made for Pac to win plain and simple. If he loses then what? What happens to his rep? What happens to all the possible money from the Mayweather fight? How did Ortiz get his shot at Mayweather? By beating Berto (the at time champ/top welterweight). This would no longer be considered a SUPER fight of the best of their times. It would then just be a great much anticipated fight that I'm sure has been drug on and on due to making as much money as possible. And of course JMM/Mayweather wouldn't happen again because Mayweather had already beaten him (another extremely controversial fight).
I would love to hear someone's defense behind all of the makeup of the underlying history as well as their thoughts on the ramifcations of a Pac loss which IMO makes this a must win Pac fight! Open your eyes people. Its always in the huge much anticipated MONEY MAKING fights where the controversy is. When was the last time you saw an undercard or even a title belt fight with rising stars where a majority of people just say "WOW, somethings not right about this outcome!"? -
Ringside punch stats showed just how close the fight was. Pacquiao was credited with landing 176 of 578 punches, while Marquez landed 138 of 436.
The power punches were even closer, with Pacquiao connecting on 117 to 100 -- though Marquez seemed to land the harder punches. -

damnit thought May said that to manny
Reason: im illiterate -
What was controversial about the Mayweather/Marquez fight? Floyd thoroughly dismantled Marquez during their fight. Didn't the judges have Floyd winning every round?

I had money on Manny and i was pretty sure i had lost ... Thanks judge 116-112
