  10. GG Romney, just lost all the old people vote (except the white racists)

  11. Ryan is the chair of the House Budget Committee. Looks like they want to push fiscal responsibility in their platform, could be a winning strategy.
  12. Hell Yeah!
  13. I just want to know how long until we see an ad about Ryan wanting to kill old people?

No way will it be a winning strategy. All you have to do is get that Romney speaker Saul comments + some Ryan video clips = scare old people to death on their benefits/healthcare. Also you'll see Obama having ads depicting Ryan as a tea party fringe guy. It's an awful choice.

Essentially yes, this is what will happen. Obama will have a fucking field day.

In addition, does Romney really think he can win by just talking about the economy? Nothing on social issues, nothing on foreign policy and if you try to talk about Romney's past business at Bain it isn't cool by him. Now you'll have Ryan who can ONLY talk about one thing, just like Romney who spouts off how his great business experience puts him in position to be POTUS. Honestly, between the Republicans choosing Romney as their candidate and how they have ran their campaign, this is an easy re-election for Obama. Willing to take lots of action.

    wait no longer

  18. This will give Romney a big bump (obv) but it will fizzle so fast...Obama and Biden will slaughter them on the Social Security issue.

I'm gonna make Gretskys head bleed
  20. I'm still laughing at this. Ryan is a guy who appeases the base and does hardly anything for the swing voters. Ryan's "asset" to this election will only come from his budget talk, nothing else. Maybe Romney can win Wisconsin now, idk, but I don't see the logic in this choice.

  21. he is really well versed on obamacare too, so i guess that is his other strength.

  22. I'm looking forward to his complete destruction of Biden during their debate.
  23. Who cares how versed he is in Obamacare? The healthcare debate is over, Romney can't talk about it given Romneycare and how his campaign has handled it already otherwise he looks bad. The more Romney talks about Obamacare the better it is for Obama. That's why we've seen ads on Obamacare already from Obama.

Also, you're gonna love the ads from Obama basically saying: "Ryan wants to get rid of Obamacare, wants to get rid of your benefits to take care of your family. What does he want to do? Use a voucher system which gives you a coupon to pay for stuff. And if that coupon can't cover the cost, you'll be left paying the rest ---- cut to shots of families looking in despair over bills and then cut to a stupid, contorted looking face from Ryan that verbally looks like he is saying IDGAF".

0% chance? Or do you always like to speak in absolutes? The economy is BY FAR the most important factor to voters and now they have two very strong speakers on the subject with credentials to back it up, especially when compared to the incumbent who added a few trillion to the deficit.
  25. holy fuck thats a big nose

No its not. Did you watch the Ryan video? He just ripped apart Medicare and Obama's bill. The healthcare debate is also directly tied to the budget, the deficit, and the economy.

    1. People who are voting for Romney because they believe his background is best for the economy are still going to be voting for Romney after this selection. I don't see how the swing voters, who aren't directly compelled to vote Romney because of his background, are now going to vote for him just because of Ryan.
    2. There is a lot more to this election than the economy which is why you have a lot of swing voters. In addition Obama is doing a good job linking Romney with Bush in their economic policies.
    3. Any president who won in 2008 was going to increase the deficit by a few trillion... marginal differences between Obama, and I guess McCain, would have been negligible.
    4. No, I never talk in absolutes :-). What do you want me to do, say that this strategy won't work 90% of the time? Want me to attach probabilities to my statements?

Look, it's easy for you to critique Obamacare as a young guy who is well off. That's not what wins votes though to a mass majority, this is politics. It's all a strategy, it's all a game. Yes, healthcare is tied to all those things but it's also tied to people's lives which has a greater effect on a lower/middle class family who would have trouble affording healthcare. You think I'm some liberal pinko commie but I'm just arguing politics.

  29. 1. I'm a swing voter. I hate Romney. I want to vote on who will handle our finances the best because I'm worried. Romney just took a giant lead for me. Ryan understands the fiscal cliff that is ahead of us in health care, wants to pay down the deficit, and wants a smaller government.

    2. Please stop speaking in abstract absolutes. "There is a lot more to this election than the economy." Like what? Health care? Medicare is a fiscal cliff in our budget = economy. Foreign policy? Defense spending is the number one issue in foreign policy = budget/economy. Social Issues? You think social issues gay marriage / abortion / etc are a big issue to all the swing voters?

    3. I agree, but the fact remains that he added huge deficits and Romney/Ryan will hammer him for it.
