So I just graduated with an MBA in finance and real estate. I now find myself seriously contemplating studying for the LSAT to see if i can score well enough to get into a good law program. I do have interest in practicing law (potentially real estate law) but my question is primarily for anyone that has a law degree but does not work at a law firm per se (or a DA's office etc).
Basically I am trying to see what kind of jobs people with law degrees have other then as like trial attorneys...
thanks -
I know a lot of people with law degrees and here are some of their professions:
cops
politicians
a CEO of a real estate development company
lobbiest (sp?)
poker players
director of a non-profit charity
teachers
college professors
pharmaceutical salesperson
financial advisor
pizza store manager
medical doctor
That is all I can think of right now. Law school will only open more doors for you. It can't hurt your prospects. -
you left out inmate and unemployed ward of the state

otherwise your list was solid -
I'm in law school now...get your Ph.D. or something else. Law school sucks.

i assume just bc of the workload? im def not set on going. depends how the lsat goes. dont really want to put off working for another 3 yrs but i might not find a job for another year regardless...

I'd go for it...if someone else is footing the tuition bill.

If you are not planning on practicing as an attorney, then I don't see the point of stunting your work experience another 3 years and adding over 100k of debt.
It's a pretty bad market for attorneys and the competition is fierce. Think this decision through. -
understood. I do have some interest in practicing law should i go to law school. I guess I am also trying to figure out if a law degree would be helpful long term in working in M&A or for major consulting firms. I guess the other part of my problem is im 28, have an MBA and not really sure what the hell I wanna do with my life. ha

Guy at my school has MBA, and teacher asked him why the hell he came to law school. It's just piling loans on top of loans (if you have to). You should be able to get a good job with MBA, or get into academia if you wanted...
And yes, the workload in law school is pretty brutal. I get to watch the Baylor game on Saturdays and maybe one NFL game on Sunday. That's about the extent of my free time.
*However, if you think you will regret not going later in life....go for it. -
Theres tons of people in law school w. masters and MBAs
