I would say 50%. I think so many people replied who were tall because people like to tell about their strengths. I think shorter people had a much lower response rate and the lie rate was a bit lower than your estimate.

With that said, however, my experience in doing this sort of thing (it's part of some boat selection processes for rowing) is that the women tend to lie about their weight and the men tend to lie about their height.

My wife is 5'10" and you'd be amazed at how many men who are her height list themselves as 6'0". I'm 6'1", but there are any number of guys who claim 6'2" or 6'3" who aren't any taller than me.

At the same time, many women either list a weight they liked many years ago ("driver's license weight") or what they think they should weigh when they finish their current iteration of a diet ("target weight").

Whatever - it's all good...

I didn't read the thread but I am 6 foot tall. My license says 6'1" b/c that is what I told them when I was 16 and I've had trouble twice at the casino where they tried to claim it wasn't me b/c I wasn't 6'1".....wtf

You're right that 5' 10" is the avg male height, but you also need to consider that encompasses like 300 million people. That thread in OT is a very small sample size, and I think it's important to understand that poorer people tend to eat food that is not very nutritious, leading to shorter heights because they're not realizing their full growth potential. Poorer people are probably the ones that wouldn't be playing donkaments online for cash that could go to paying for better food, and poor people also are the ones that wouldnt even have the internet to respond to our poll on a poker website's forum. That said, probably like 60% of the people lie because OTers just do that sort of thing.
