  1. In 2008, players that make the cut after the first two rounds will continue to make a paycheck like before, but now any players past the top 72 and those that tied will NOT be allowed to play on the weekend! Fucking bullsit! Basically John Daly made the cut today in Hawaii and got his paycheck already, but isn't allowed to play Saturday and Sunday. WTF?
  2. really? thats weird
  3. i dont understand, am i missing something?
  4. wait for the 1st time tiger makes the cut barely and isnt allowed to play that weekend. that rule will change fasssssssssssssst
  5. seems pretty silly to me
  6. would this be beneficial to the guys that just make the cut? now they get paid and get an extra 2 days of practice/rest
  7. Yeah but then they can't move up the pay list with a good weekend.
  8. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the cut????

LOL at telling some1 they made the cut but are still are cut out of the tourney
  9. Have to trim the fat to keep ratings.
  10. This is truly the most retarded thing I have ever heard of!!!!!!!!!

I am usually a fan of things the PGA does, but this is the work of a wackjob!!
  11. whos Tiger?
  12. this is to add time for the Tiger vs. whoever is lucky that week show.

its not like anyone cares who comes 79th place on sunday
  13. Semi-related question, how do PGA tournaments pay the people? I know you have to qualify for the PGA through a lower league, but after you do that is it like poker tournaments where there's a buy-in/entry fee and then people who make the cut get paid? Or is qualifying all you have to do and the paychecks are cut purely from sponsorship/TV money? Is tennis the same way?
  14. They should take whoever made that decision out to a back alley and lynch him.

  15. I know a guy who plays on the tour, I'll ask our mutual friend to ask him what he thinks about this.

If I recall correctly, they take more than 72 if everyone is within 10 strokes of the leader, so it's not like these guys are completely out of contention. It would be very possible for someone like this to shoot a good 3rd round and move up in pay and get some solid TV time on Sat and possibly on Sun, so it seems like it's costing these guys some extra cash in order to end the tournament what, one hour earlier?

  16. If there are more than 78 players who make the cut on the number, than the pga tour will go to the next lowest cut number under 70.
Basically the reason the pga tour is doing this is becuase on weekends its really hard to manuever 80+ golfers. They tee of both tees (1 and 10) and with too many golfers play is extremely slow and most of the time players won't finish in the alloted time slot on TV..
I think it's a horrible idea, but apparently the players association made the rule go into effect so we'll see.
  17. The players head union guy is the one that moved for the changes, who represents all of the players. Any player that truly understood this rule can't like it. A real competitor wants to play the final 2 rounds, especially if there is a chance he can move up into the higher places where it pays more money. You are basically credited with making the cut, but then you get cut.

  18. basicly this rule is making it harder for the average pro to make a living. Well the average Pga pro still makes 300k plus but still. Telling me tat I made the cut but have no chance to move up is retarded.

Most Pros are not like tiger who makes every cut. Alot of the guys fighting for a tour card at the bottom make 30-50% of the cuts and need a chance with every cut they make.

This seems to be an elitest player rule.
  19. chop?
  20. I like WhiteAlRoker's comment.. although probably will never happen, imagine the uproar when Tiger Woods makes the cut by one shot but is over the 70+ player rule. GG new rule.
