And if it does then why can't the form be taken home and filled out? And the reason for asking for a form instead of writing a letter? Because the form will list all the information neeed whereas writing a letter may leave out information useful to the investigation.

this makes sense. cops always back each other and without this sort of process it just opens the door to corruption.
as the arrest of the guy in the film shows. maybe he was an antagonist, thou arresting him due to frustration and annoyance is a complete abuse of power.

'it would be insane if they had to sift through every little crappy complaint that "officer piggy cuffed me too hard. i don't know what his name is or even if he works here at this station, but i want to $ue his ass" then they would have to hire many more people and YOUR (really OUR) tax dollars would be even more wasted. if you can't discuss it with the watch commander/whoever then it just isn't that important (like the dumb video since it was all BS). their policy is for you to first lodge a verbal complaint. if you don't like it, then contact IA. the "real cops" don't like IA, so if you have trouble with cops, you should looooooooove IA.

anyway in short, you guys are all crazy. seacrest out'

I would think that 'office piggy cuffed me too hard' could actually be a valid complaint in some cases. It's about having a fair/open path for people to exercise their rights as citizens (and to ensure that fair practice is being upheld, etc).

that video was obviously shot from one person's perspective...but if you watch it in its entirety you can't logically dismiss it all as crazy or stupid/whatever.

if you just reply looool dismissed or stupid or i stopped after 2 minutes then you're not being open-minded or considering it from a ethical standpoint. comes across as very bullish

if i had internet skills i would insert that family guy clip with the donkey 'kevin bacon wasn't in footloose'

Precisely what I was thinking. Fuck a form, and fucking getting bullied by lowest common denominator LEOs. Spreading a viral message through twitter and such. Contacting relevant local and national blogs. Contacting local media outlets. And a cheeky letter to every single office with representative ties to the place I reside. Is what I would do if I had a significant issue of violation of my rights by a gang of powermongers masquerading as public safety agents.

LOL Love how 90% of the replies said OP was full of shit. Even OT doesn't respect "innocent until proven guilty".

  14. So would I searched California police complaint form and there is one in a pdf.

you can see why cops would be upset, your basically complaining about them.

equivalent to using the drive thru at burger king then ordering a pizza lol

  15. Pretty sure OneM does not always blindly defend cops, and as he already said in this thread, the insisting on ID and making an arrest when the guys just wants to walk away was wrong. I think that happenned a couple times in this video. At the same time, why the fuck would you walk into a police station to complain about a cop, and not expect them to ask for ID? Seems standard to me. Find another way to make your complaint if you dont want to identify yourself.

  17. it's pretty clear from that video that that guy had an argument with his gf earlier and was in a bad mood, that's why he spit on the cop and said he was gonna rape the cop's wife, causing the officer to place him in restraints

  20. On quite a few of those scenes he is saying I want to know 'how do i make a complaint' or 'how would i make a complaint, is there a form or something' , i.e. he's purposely not saying I want to make a complaint. The cops are just hearing the word complaint and getting all defensive and abusing their power by then intimidating him, asking him for id etc., to try and deter him in some way. imho, no matter what happens, cops should not be intimidating civilians, they should know better.

I agree the kid is being a bit of a douche, as in he knows he's videoing and is trying to trap them, to show how bad their attitude and behavior is, e.g. the cop who's giving it 'move a step closer and see what happens'. But actually he was right wasn't he, the video does show they did have bad attitudes and bad behavior to perfectly fair questions.

  21. I'm with norcaljeff here. Why come in to a station ask to file a complaint, then not give any facts about the complaint? What do you expect? This is why most cities have you file police complaints with either internal affairs or the local city attorney's office rather than at the local precinct.

  22. Havent read the replies. It is safe to assume that police departments get all types of false complaints in regards to officers performing there jobs. If there is a legitamate complaint against an officer im sure the officer taking the complaint would take action. This video is merely implying that officers taking the complaint will re-word the complaint to show the officer on trial in a more positive light. The video doesn''t point out that these complaints are taken verbatim. After the officer writes out the complaint, the person filing the complaint re reads what the officer has written down and signs it. There are multiple cuts in the same scenes so it's hard to pass judegement without seeing the whole videos.
