  1. not saying i do, or its true - but if you believe in destiny/divine intervention this makes perfect sense
  2. yes that is whats scary, that representatives legislate on "divine intervention"

how is it different from saying that the Holocaust or 9/11 was part of "gods plan"

Legislate on "divine intervention" or legislate on "animal spirits". It doesn't matter, we all suffer.

  6. I refuse to acknowledge anyone who uses their religion or belief system (or any other reason for that matter), to justify supporting such a claim. It's beyond mind-boggling to me that anyone can legitimately believe in such a concept.
  7. its fine if your pro-life. But by saying that its god plan means that god dictates whether or not a women gets pregnant from the result of rape. it has nothing to do with being pro choice/life imo

A couple years I was out to dinner with my gf and a family friend. I'm not sure how it came up, but somehow the conversation turned to the death penalty, which the family friend said she supported. I couldn't help myself and said something like "what about the possibility that we'll kill innocent people?" and the family friend told me that if any innocent people were executed, then that didn't matter because it was obviously part of God's plan. I've never been so powerfully wtf'ed in my life.

also, fwiw, this woman is a Democrat. So rest assured, Republicans, you don't have a monopoly on religious nuts.
  14. its possible that mary was raped, hence the immaculate conception coverup story, so gods son could of come from the joy of rape, makes sense that he would ok it then.

  17. I took a nice shit yesterday morning, never felt so much relief.
  18. If it was God's will that she has a baby, was it also God's will that the rapist be the father, and if the woman was unwilling to fulfill God's will, then the rapist was only doing what God would have wanted and therefore the rape was God's will.

  19. God is a fucking piece of shit.

And if she aborts the baby -- that would be God's will, too.
  21. If there is a god he is up there laughing at the retarded notion that everything that happens in life is part of his plan.
  22. the devil gets no respect.
  23. It's always God's plan until it's your daughter.
  24. Or, it's you.
  25. My friend is a JW and told me this, besides the date (because there was obv evil ish doing prior to 1914), this is the best religious explanation I have heard regarding present and past world affairs. This is so much more logical than "god's plan".

    JW's on Satan:

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Satan was originally a perfect angel who developed feelings of self-importance and craved worship. Satan caused Adam and Eve to disobey God, and humanity subsequently became participants in a challenge involving the competing claims of Jehovah and Satan to universal sovereignty.[156] Other angels who sided with Satan became demons.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that Satan and his demons were cast down to earth from heaven after October 1, 1914,[157] at which point the end times began. Witnesses believe that Satan is the ruler of the current world order,[156] that human society is influenced and misled by Satan and his demons, and that they are a cause of human suffering. They believe that human governments are controlled by Satan,[158] but that he does not directly control each human ruler.[159]
  26. being a rapist is part of god's plan too. gg death penalty.
  27. What should be most concerning is not that this person holds these beliefs but rather that as a legislator he'd push them onto others. What ever happened to being a voice for the people you represent? Sounds like this guy only wants to represent himself.

This is where our system has broken down completely.
