    just wondering what the deal is with PS3s playing PS2 games, i have been getting some diffrent info from the places ive found to ask...

    so talk to me, gamers of ot....whats the 'gig' with this?

    Any time I've ever tried it's worked, but this was probably 2 years ago.

    The older versions supported backwards capatability while the newer ones don't.

    booo...thats a bummer, one place i called was saying there is some software you can dl to get the newer ones to support it..but then i got conflicting info from another place, so was checking here...what are the upgrades (other than memory) made to the newer ones, also is it worth it to get one of the newer ones or will an older one be just as good?

    You would be better off buying either a 60gb or 20gb model used on Ebay or Gamestop.com (Around $300 - $350). The 20gb is missing alot of features but is B/C. The 60gb model has memory slots for PS1 and PS2 memory cards and has WiFi. You can always upgrade your HDD cheap. Also the Metal Gear Solid 80gb version is almost 100% B/C.

    i have the 40gb fat version, and it does not play ps2 games. it wasn't worth it for me to spend the extra money on the 60 or 80 gb systems.
