Do you think he will sign with St.Louis after the season? I guess they offered him "top 10" money per year which is somewhere around $20 million a year. Personally, I hope he signs with StL after the season, but if he does sign with the Cubs after the season it would be like Lebron II
-
My Cubbies could use a bat like that, I'd welcome him with open arms.
-
He'll stay in STL. He loves it there, and he's beloved by the best fans in baseball. Both parties are just doing what anyone would do in this situation -- they'll resolve it eventually, and he'll remain in STL.

so from now if a star leaves for a new team they will he be viewed as "Lebron x.0"? this isn't really like the lebron situation.
-
As a STL fan I'm happy that the best player in the game is now playing for a contract.

I don't think he will if he doesn't plan on budging significantly from the 10yr-30per mark. I wouldn't pay that if I were Stl, you could get a way higher return over 10yrs if you invested 300mil in other areas.

I think the A-Rod contract is going to be simply awful on the back end. 10yr deals are just plain stupid, especially for that kind of money. -
St Louis would be dumb to give him 10 yrs/300m.
He'll be 31/32 when he signs it. No thank ya. -
3 weeks ago i would of said he is 100% staying in STL. After today i think there is about a 1% chance he stays. Way too many teams can give him the money he wants, and at this point as much as it pains me to say it i am almost positive that he ends up in NY with the Mets. The Mets have a ton of money coming off the books at the end of the season and a player like this is just what that team needs.

This was a very interesting article written by Dan Wolken

No way, Mets are in big financial trouble because the owner of the Mets had a lot of money invested with Madoff.

I read something this week that he has if Trump wanted to buy 25% of the team but he said he wants full control if he buys the team -
Umm...Mets aren't going to have shit to spend with this entire Madoff ordeal. If he doesn't re-sign with the Cards, I think he ends up with the Cubs, Rangers, Angels, or Giants. On mlbtraderumors Phils fans were already talking about signing Pujols and moving him to 3B or LF...lmao. Red Sox fans were talking about having him DH, which would never ever happen. Others were saying that Boston didn't really give up anything to get AGon, so they should just let him walk after the season and sign Pujols. Delusional fans ftw!

Not really. Pujols would be leaving the Cards for more money. Lebron left because he wanted out of that shit hole of a city. -
The Mets are going to get a silent partner at some point this season, that is a fact. That will help them take on a contract of Pujols. Anyone saying that there is no chance that he ends up with the Mets is insane. While i will agree that the Angels, Rangers, Giants, Nationals and Yankees are def an option, i would not be even a little suprised to see the Mets do everything they can to land Pujols.

Pujols will be a Cardinal for life. I am about 95% certain of this. He does not want this contract extension lingering all season long so that is why he imposed the deadline.
I also think that he will take into consideration how the team performs this season, as well as what kind of moves they make to show that they want a World Series caliber ballclub for now and for the future. He wants to be on a winning team in his home town. The Cardinals have to show him they are willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.
I agree w/ ChocoThunder in that it's always fun watching a super star play in a contract year. But I'm not the least bit worried about him leaving. -
You mean like offering him $19-$20MM/year? That's a fucking insult when you compare it to the money someone like Crawford or Werth is making.

This whole thing has been blown out of proportion by ESPN just like they do with everything. The Cardinals knew he wouldn't take a ridiculous "top 10" money offer. We will see what happens after the year is over. My guess is the cardinals will give him around 7 years and $30M per year, and he will take it. If not, there probably is someone out there that will pay him more and give him a longer deal. If so, then oh well.
-
I heard somewhere that if Posada retires after this season, New York will move Jeter to DH, A-Rod back to short, and put Pujols at 3rd. As long as he gets $100K more than Rodriguez annually he said he'd sign.
-
Insert Gary Coleman gif
-
guarantee if pujols goes to the cubs he'll find out hes got polio before june.
-
I have to just lol @ this. Did you read the thread when news about him possibly leaving broke? Apparently Pujols owes everyone in st louis his eternal gratitude and a discounted rate for his entire career.
-
So a few douchey STL fans = All STL fans? Surprisingly we all aren't non cargo khaki short and polo shirt wearing 50 year olds. MUPP is one of those guys in training though.
-
Nice level. Not that its even remotely possible, but ARod back at SS would be a fucking nightmare. Even worse than Jeter right now.
-
I don't think I want him if it is a long term deal. The Cubs aren't good enough to Win the World Series this year even if they had him I don't think and they don't seem like they could in the next 3-4 years even. The last 6 years of that contract are going to be like Soriano x5 in my opinion.
I think that contract guarantees 10 more years without a World Series title.
Wait, so you are a cargo khaki short and polo shirt wearing 50 year old?Originally Posted by studogg76
