Ok, so Im guessing that this is likely to have been done in the past but oh well I think it will be interesting. I got daydreaming about what almost everybody else in here surely must do at some stage, if not often. What is the standard of living like for other people around the world? How much do things cost?

So I thought I would start a thread we we can share and people can see at a glance how good/bad people have it in their respective settings. Most things you will be able to share off the top of your head, A few you may need to spend a minute searching for an answer, but here goes, feel free to copy/past the template to give your answer.
NB. all answers should be given as a general standard product, not luxury brands or items

WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE: It is not too densely populated, there is low crime and violence and the surrounding environment is clean and appealing. Lots of beaches!! (I could prob get to any of about 100 beaches within half an hour, one of which is just a 2min walk from my house :) )
WHAT DON"T YOU LIKE ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE: So far away from the rest of the world!!!
WHAT ARE YOUR IDEALS AND DREAMS ABOUT WHERE YOU COULD LIVE: My ideal place to live will include; Beaches, Golf Courses (NZ has the highest #courses per capita in the world), safe environment, good entertainment options. This would need to be in a moderate/warm climate, and although I like cultural diversity (is huge here in Auckland btw) I would HAVE to have english as the main spoken language. That said, I would love to have access to ski fields within a couple of hours. Also, I very much doubt I could settle in a small town exclusively... there is definitely appeal there but I could only live in a small town with the option of an 'urban retreat' aswell. Either that or the means to take LOTS of trips and holidays, lol. -
Saxman has it pretty well nailed.

Haven't even lived in this country for a month yet so some of this will be guesswork. All answers in USD so that we have a comparable framework, it's stupid to post in a million different currencies.

MEDIAN INDIVIDUAL INCOME (COUNTRY): $11820
MEDIAN INDIVIDUAL INCOME (CITY or STATE): Considerably lower, but I can't find an actual number anywhere given my still-useless Bahasa Melayu skills. I'd guess about $6k, and even that might be high. Guys who work in the restaurants all over the place make between 100 and 200 a month.
COST OF LIVING
PRICE OF PETROL: roughly $2.32 a gallon (65 cents a liter or so)
1KG BLOCK OF CHEESE: I haven't seen a 1k block of cheese since I left the States, but at the one store I saw actual expensive cheeses, the prices were only a shade under what you'd pay at grocery stores in Seattle. Dairy and 90 degree days with poor refrigeration don't mix too well.
ADULT MOVIE TICKET: For about $8 you can get the super pimp la-z boy recliner seats with food service, regular price is about $3.50.
DINING AT A TYPICAL DECENT LOCAL RESTAURANT (3courses, 2beers lets say): There is not a single place in Proton City that serves beer, but I just had lamb biryani and a non-alcoholic beverage for $2.25, and usually spend about half that on breakfast. At the Chinese place in Tanjung Malim, where you can actually get a beer, 2 orders of fried rice, sweet and sour pork, pork ribs, and 2 large Carlsburgs set us back $17 and my friend started ripping management for overcharging us. Beer is not cheap, a can of Guinness at 7-11 is still $4, and the cheapest drinks at bars are at least that. Muslims don't drink. I also have to go to the Chinese places to get pork, and the non-Halal section of the grocery stores nationwide feels like the adult section of the video store. Malay employees will actually put gloves on to handle cans of pork and the like. Even teriyaki sauce is non-Halal...
A CUP OF COFFEE: 25-30 cents, depending on whether you want condensed milk or not.
BUS FARE FOR 15-20KMS/10-20MIN TRIP: ludicrously cheap, maybe a buck tops. The KL monorail will take you all the way across the city into the burbs and the max fare is like $1
TAXI FARE FOR 15-20KMS/10-20MIN TRIP: cost me $5 to go 12k during rush hour, and got jobbed for $8 on the way back by a guy who refused to use the meter because he'd have to waste a bunch of time in the mandatory taxi queue at my destination. Then once I gave him the money he hopped the curb and fled the taxi line.
YOUR MOBILE MONTHLY COST AND PLAN: Company phone, company internet, company laptop, company car. I know for the phone and internet they'll pay a maximum of $50/month per person and it's ludicrously rare for someone to go over. The internet here blows though, apparently in KL you can get 15mbps with phone and full cable tv for like $60, but here the fastest is 1mb and without the combo it's still like $40
YOUR INTERNET MONTHLY COST AND PLAN: In Proton City you can buy a 5-day pass to the local wifi network for $1.65, which is somewhat better than my company internet but still takes a few hours to download a 232mb episode of Weeds. Unfortunately, my 5 day pass expired this morning and the sign explaining why the shop is closed right now is in BM.
A HEINEKEN AT A BAR: $5 in shitholes, at least double in clubs in KL.
A HOUSE WINE AT A BAR: Same as beer, even the cheapest Gallo type crap at the grocery store is $10/bottle
THE CHEAPEST YOU COULD BUY A WORKING, LEGAL CAR FOR: couple hundred would probably be super easy
A 600ml COKE FROM A GAS STATION: 500ML, 67 cents.
AVERAGE RENT FOR A 2BEDROOM PLACE PER WEEK (excluding utilities): I am currently renting a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom two-story terrace house for $275 a month and everyone is convinced I'm overpaying by 20-25%. They also think I'm nuts since apparently there were 10 university students sharing this apartment a couple years back. I looked at a 3-bed, 2-bath that was $135 a month, but it was a shithole so I decided to splurge. I am however moving, as I generally don't let the # of cockroaches killed in my house get to double digits before I move, and I've only been here 2 weeks.
2L MILK FROM SUPERMARKET: Milk comes in 2 liters? 1 liter, $1.75, and in Proton City for that price it's long life milk that comes in a rectangular box.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE: Amazing cheap food, friendly people (albeit sober), palm trees everywhere, it's 90 degrees every day, AsiaAir has routine sales with $15 flights to Cambodia and the like, I'll be spending next week watching both Chelsea and Liverpool play vs Malaysia for $40 total, and the weekend after I'll be spending on a tropical island with nothing to do but hang out on the beach (and they drink on the island) for like $5 a night, $15 if I want my own room.
WHAT DON"T YOU LIKE ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE: Lack of booze and bacon, ridiculously intelligent, aggressive fire ants (they walk right around the ant cups like they aren't even there, and they bite), roaches, the fact that FTP is still dicking me around about playing (still UB only for me, and this FTP gripe was before they got shut down globally), and the fact that I would have chosen almost any other location in Malaysia had I been given the option. That said, it's only 45 minutes to KL.
WHAT ARE YOUR IDEALS AND DREAMS ABOUT WHERE YOU COULD LIVE:[/B] Sunny, warm, with ease of access to beaches, good food, sexy women (tons in Malaysia, not so much in Tanjung Malim), low prices that enable me to save up for living in Brazil throughout 2014 for Carnival and World Cup, multicultural, oh and a plant that reportedly carries the death penalty here.
*I could add some more if i think of some or if people have some suggestions. I will post my one after a few replies -

The restaurants and night life are incredible, If I wanted to I could go out every night of the week for an entire year without repeating one place. The job market is also booming, huge change from where I lived in the US.
WHAT DON"T YOU LIKE ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE: violence and traffic.
WHAT ARE YOUR IDEALS AND DREAMS ABOUT WHERE YOU COULD LIVE:
I lived in the US for 15 years and I have to say Im very pleased with the choice I made coming back to Brazil. Ideally I would be able to live here for 6 months out of the year and in Miami for the other 6. -

Gas in my area of the GTA is around $1.30, though
Cheese, is around $5-6.00 for a block of Kraft Cheddar. Better cheeses cost significantly more, obv.
2bdrm apt for about $1,000.00
Parking is more here as well
Cheese is roughly 7-10 bucks for say a block of black diamond old cheddar
Some of the things I love about TO is the Women obv and the diversity of cultures. cleanliness and the people are friendly as fuck -
I looked it up and the correct individual income is $41,452....$104k seemed way too high.
