Are you happily married? I realize if your spouse lurks or posts, you're pretty much screwed here :) If you are, what makes your marriage happy? Are you just complacent and sticking it out grudgingly? Or are you unhappy? I'm just curious :) I'm open to hearing all comments regarding married life, but would love to know that there's more than 3 or 4 people in the world who actually get along and love/respect each other.

Been married almost two years and i'm very happy. No marriage is perfect and it is a lot of give and take. Any specific questions?
-
No one is "happily married ever after."
Relationships always have their ups and downs. The key is, can you live with the faults of your significant other without wanting to tell them to just shut the hell up. If you can, you will be together for a long time. If not, divorce.
... says the guy who's seen it all in 20 years with my woman. -
After over 11 years togther we are still happy. We are polar opposites and that seems to work for us. We talk to each other like the Bundys (Al and Peg) and it sometimes freaks people out thinking we are fighting when in all actuality it the opposite. I still adore my wife as though it was our first day toghter.
-
Hmmm. I don't really have any questions, specifically. Mostly just want to know what you attribute your happiness to. I guess I do have one--do you think it's hard work? Or do you think it's basically easy (not perfect and not that there's never any disagreements) if you're with the right person who is compatible with you?

My Wife tried to stab me last night
any more questions? -
My wife and i get along well. She also reads here from time to time.
We have small problems. She doesnt help with cleaning, and doesnt do alot to help with the kids on a day to day basis. But she makes more then me. She also doesnt put out much.
So honey if you are reading this. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!! LET ME TAP IT SOON! PLEASE!!!!!!!
We are like best friends out side of the small stuff I posted above.
So what makes it a happy marriage? We get along well. She loves sports almost as much as I. Plus she gets my retardedness. We also can do whatever we want, as long as we have the money.
What makes it bad? She doesnt clean much or help with kids much, and she doesnt put out. all tho I love spending a ton of time with the kids, and am a homebody. were she loves to go out with her friends. So it balances out. I do hate cleaning so much tho.
I give it a 7/10. all in all I am happy. -
Yeah, Mrs. baughman, let him tap it soon! He seems like a very sweet hubby :)
-
Oh yeah. Been on the phone with C-Monies through one of those. Definately thought she was gonna open up the can of whoop ass on him.

very happily married - we were pretty unhappy a few years ago - def have had our fair share of problems in the last 10+ yrs - there are plenty of things that go into making a marriage happy - honestly, sharing the joy of raising our son has left us more happy and fulfilled with one another than ever before (though it's not always rainbows and lollipops) - we love and respect one another and truly enjoy each other's company - he's still my fav person to be around - we make each other laugh - and no, i'm saying this just bc there's a remote possibility he might read it (he hasn't lurked OT in forever*) - i actually mean it, as cliched and ghey as some of it may sound :)
EDIT: *guess i shoulda knocked on wood :) -
Oh my! You must've done something pretty bad to piss her off, tow :)

Only married a year, but I've been with my wife for 6-7 years. I'm happily married. There are ups and downs. As should be expected. If you've previously lived together not much changes just because you're married.
I'm lucky because my wife is very forgiving, loving and puts in a lot of effort to making our marriage work. One can never have enough patience and that obviously goes both ways. I think the most important thing that makes us work so well is, focusing on how to deal with similar situations in the future, rather than focusing on/holding a grudge about the situation that just happened.
We are also very lucky in that we both have 100% trust in eachother. It's hard so hard for others to fathom the understanding we have of eachother. I could easily tell you that I would never ever worry about her cheating or hiding anything from me.
I'm sure things will change more when kids come into play, but if we are both aware that we will disagree/fight about the kids, prior to their existance I think we will be ok.
Talk to me again in 5, 10, 15, 20...... years. -
Last nights conversation:
Me: Hey honey, I'm gonna book a trip to Vegas to hang out with
retarded internet friends again.
Her: Ok have fun.
This is why we get along. -
I've been married for three years, together for eight. Definetly married up.
Our first year 1/2 of marriage was very horrible. I moved her away from her family and home, which she took out on me... completely changed our relationship.
Now she loves it, very confident, and our relationship is the best it's ever been.
At one point we were in the middle of getting a divorce... my dad has been married 8 times, my mom 3... I decided not to be like them and make it work no matter what.
btw... pics??? -
short and sweet answer - yes, that is all
-
8 times??? OMG! He must be an eternal optimist lol
-
I love all these answers! :)

We hit 2 years this month, and for the most part I'm loving life. Our personalities really go together well, although I think that my severe weirdness rubbed off on her so much when we were dating that I ruined her for any other guy. We have a 2 month old son, a 1 year old golden retreiver, a 5 year old house that we've been in for just over a year, one cat that's cool as shit and one that reminds me a lot of Kim Bauer, but also pisses everywhere. If I didn't hate my job so much I'd say I really can't complain about anything.
What makes our marriage happy? The biggest reason is that we laugh a lot. Our senses of humor are really well tailored for each other, and stuff I find funny that she used to not care for (like commercials with old people riding scooters) she has come around on, to the point where she points it out to me if we're driving somewhere and there's an old lady riding one on the sidewalk. -
We have been married for 9 years. Marriage is like anything else. If you don't work on improving the marriage it will get old and stale.
I have a cool wife. We have a couple different businesses we run together. One being in adult entertainment marketing and the other on ebay.
We have two kids one having special needs. So we have very full schedules.
Do we have our spats? HELL YA! We are different people, so sometimes we disagree on things. The trick is to pick your battles. -
Oh :( Guess women always think that they'll be the one he doesn't treat that way, huh? "I'm the exception, those other women couldn't make him happy like I can". Riiiiiiight! And the abusive guy is thinking "This is HER fault, SHE makes me act this way, I'll just find someone else and she'll be my dream woman and things will all work out". Does that sum it up pretty well?
Sounds like you didn't follow in your parents' footsteps, so good on you! -
He uses his Vietnam Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome as a huge crutch... not that it isn't something that would drive anyone who has experienced war to drink; but it hasn't made him get help either.
Being understanding can only last so long.
Are you thinking about getting hitched???? -
Mrs. Blonde and I have been together 16 years and happily married for 8. If you trust the person you are with it's easier to be happy. It's not perfect..and we have our battles, but we work through them. First few years were real bumpy. That was before either of us were committed to the relationship. And Im sure neither of us were in love with the other and we were off more than we were on. But the more time we spent apart the more we wanted to be together. Once we had kids we pretty much were dedicated to making the relationship work at every cost. If for nothing else but to give our kids a better upbringing than either of us had.
We woulda got married a few years earlier but we put off the wedding to save up for a house. We were living in a shitty cockroach ridden apt that we wanted out of more than we wanted a wedding. The true test of any relationship is how well it holds up in a crisis situation....and ours has faired well over a few very major disasters. I wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for her. -
don't do it
-
I was married for a few months, but I'm a widow now. My wife was killed by a ghost. It was very tragic.
-
Well, at least he has a good excuse. It's hard for any woman to put up with that for too long, regardless of the excuse, though.
Are you thinking about getting hitched????
Oh dear God in heaven no!!! I would like to again one day, but that's in the way distant future and only if I'm unequivocally certain that I've found the right person. Not sure how I'll know that exactly, though. I don't have the best track record, unfortunately. I've been through enough to know that being alone is better than being miserable. -
I have been married for 11 years and i am happily married. Of course i am never home but it doesnt seem to affect our marriage adversly. If it does anything it keeps it new and fresh because every 6 months or so you are relearning your spouse. So women could not handle their husband being away all the time so i am happy i found a great lady who can.

lmao bfactor
I like when Ecu brings up these questions. I always find these interesting. -
That would make you a widower, b :)
