As a bartender if I had regulars at my bar who come in and account for most of my business I would still say to them "hey have some respect for other customers". I've done it tons of times before. On the other hand I've had customers come up and buy a drink then proceed to say filthy stuff to off-duty cocktail servers and just b/c you spend money at my bar does not mean you have a license to say what you want. I always tell them to gtfo if they are making girls feel uncomfortable.

This is exactly the mindset that most people have these days. They expect that someone else should step in and moderate every single thing that they happen to find offensive. Problem is 9 times out of 10 they look for that in government.

Freedom of speech protects the right to say ugly and offensive things. Otherwise what's the point? So no, society in the form of government does not "condone" racist speech just by the fact that it doesn't lock people up for using offensive language.
