He said that the average teacher salary in Wisconsin is $89,000. That cannot even remotely be true can it? I teach at one of the higher paying districts in southeast Mo. and our salary schedule doesn't even go up that high.
-
It's about time all you commies got what's coming to you for trying to indoctrinate kids into your socialist agenda.
-
lol, 0% chance that's true
-
what are we getting?
-
The first three results on Google say that average salary is 46-48k in WI. So...yeah, basically half of what Paul claimed. lmao.
-
i have trouble believing it but hes one of the few pols i would assume was truthful before fact checking. im thinking the figure was include administrators as well would be my first guess but would definitely like to see where hes getting his figures -
Seriously rand paul is someone I thought wouldn't stoop down to this so I can't wait till this gets thoroughly fact checked, don't make me lose the faith rand.
-
sounds closer to the average public sector salary + benefits. - ish
-
Yeah, you're all set. I'll be sending you a Google Docs link where you can input your rankings soon. If you can use that, it will make my life much easier.

Unfortunately, we aren't going to do the March 1st pre-season rankings. Probably March 15th. Work is killing me. (Too bad I don't have a union to give me a featherbedded cushy job where I could do it at work, like moocher teachers.) -
ummm...I do not belong to a union, but I would love to be paid what my work "merits", since I am confident that somebody with 17 years on the job with a Masters Degree "merits" more than the $40k a year that I get paid for teaching right now.

If you feel you deserve more seek more elsewhere.

Look, if you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem. Are schools fucked up in the US right now? Yes. QED.
-
Ok, it is a bit past my bedtime so my reading comprehension isn't what it normally is, and maybe my sarcasm/level radar is not working properly so if you are just being sarcastic / leveling then good one and lol. If not, I would love to hear how I am a mooch. In the meantime, I am heading to bed...my first class started at 7:55 this morning, my last class ended at 3:03, which was followed by parent teacher conferences until 8:00 pm...so I have had a long day of mooching. I really hope that I am just missing the sarcasm.

1. Why do you say that schools in the US are fucked up right now?
2. I currently have 160+ students that I meet with every day and do everything within my ability to do my part to provide them with the best education possible. What should I be doing differently to make me part of the solution? How would getting a job in the private sector make me part of the solution?
3. What are you doing that makes you part of the solution or are you part of the problem too?
Now I am going to bed for real, but I look forward to continuing our discussion tomorrow. -
maybe he was including university professors (they are kinda teacher) in that average?

Sounds like a salary v. compensation (salary plus benefits) issue to me. If Paul said "salary" when he should have said "compensation" then shame on him for not being more accurate. -
I don't answer questions from goddam liberals. You morans are always going on and on with facts and figures and logic and shit, instead of using common sense and gut feelings, and you still fail to figure out the simplest things that a dog can understand.

Unions are destroying this country and teachers are more worried about tenure and teaching kids self esteem instead of math and reading and Christian values. Oh what am I thinking, you probably believe in evolution, lmao, whatever monkey boy. -
Don't know if it's true or not, but some FB friends from Wisconsin said that teachers made around 90k. I only saw data for administrators and don't see anything out of line.
Edited By: midmoguy Feb 25th, 2011 at 07:49 AM
Edit: Supposedly their salary + benefits = around 90k. Still don't know if this is true or not. -
Super bowl cut.

working in a school district in wisconsin... I'd have to say that is untrue.
Edited By: dills2214 Feb 25th, 2011 at 02:43 PM
In my district, starting teachers make around 29K. The average teacher here probably makes between 34-40K.
Edit: Let me also add that teacher with a masters degree and that have been here 25+ years cant even top out much over 50k. -
FWIW, I heard the same figure from my buddies wife who teaches. I thought it seamed like a crazy figure, but this was like a year ago. Someone is making this claim to a wholes lot of people. She heard it in her MAT program at TAMU I think.

ITT we have an underdog in kellykip clothing.
WP SPMVP -
Wouldn't have mattered much if he did. I think people take benefits for granted in most positions, and are completely unaware of the costs of health care and the like. The fact that this money really only get brought up when there's a labor dispute with a union, makes people think unions are getting more than they deserve even though, most people have nothing to compare it to.

sounds more like the average salary of a tenured professor.
