    I would kick Billy Bob and Matt Damon off the list for sure, then add Samuel L. and Gary Oldman, then I would say these are my favorite actors.

    edit:

    Freeman, Hanks, Denzel, Duval, Deniro, TLJ, and DDL are basically my all time favs

    I haven't seen enough of his stuff to justify putting him that high.

    I have a feeling he would be higher if I had already seen 'There Will Be Blood.'

    morgan freeman - I think that with out a doubt these are my 2 favs from the list
    daniel day-lewis but I give the nod to Freeman mainly because Shawshank is my
    favorite movie.

    robert de niro - I think that all 3 of these guys are equal but I rank de Niro
    denzel washington above Denzel and Hanks just on personal preference.

    tommy lee jones - Same as the above 3 as far as ranking. All 3 are great actors.

    billybob thornton - These 3 could be left off the list and replaced imo. Samual
    christian bale Jackson as someone else mentioned, would be 1 of my

    I am really surprised how low tommy-lee is going. The only not so good performances I've seen out of him were in the MIB movies.

    He's 2x better than DeNiro if you ask me.

    lol I was just being a dick, but yeah, Day-Lewis is at the top of my list. He doesn't have nearly the volume as some of these other guys, but IMO he's the most talented.

    Deniro is a has-been at this point. He's like Jack Nicholson. They play the same part...themselves...every single role. They were great in the 70s and 80s.

    lol yeah but not for like 10 years. He has awesome performances in the fugitive, us marshalls, no country for old men and natural born killers. I guess he plays somewhat similar roles in all those movies though.

    I find it kinda funny that somebody mentioned The Last of the Mohicans to proove DDL's greatness -- that's pretty much his most "average" performance and movie. How about trying In the Name of the Father, The Boxer, My Left Foot, There Will Be Blood or Gangs of New York?

    i am seeing all their movies for the most part except i will wait for cable for billy bob. now their choices in roles they select are another story or them just being a part of the better movie.

    christian bale and DDL do not pick duds IMO, and tom hanks once he got to a place he could be more selective. matt damon has done a good job at that since the bourne series started and he could start being more selective. Some of the others have fallen into retread roles that are growing long in the tooth to me.

    Top of that list should be deniro, norton, matt damon. billy bob is alright

    I second. If Matt Damon is ahead of Day Lewis, you have a problem. Matt Damon has an awesome filmography and is a good actor, but c'mon. Day Lewis throws down epic performances.

    Any one else think that with 3 or 4 more good movies we could rank Ed Norton in the top 3.
    He has Had some Amazing performances.

    American History X

    His 1st mainstream movie was Primal Fear in 96... so only 12 years ago..

    The more I think about it how amazing is his work in Primal Fear is.

    By the way he was also in The people vs Harry Flint.. A very underarted movie
