1. There's been some OT posts and some online flaming by Resilient (whoever that is) and other punks from OT. This relates to a p5's ff league that was run by BigGunX

Here's the real deal, not some trash talk from losers who have no clue to right and wrong and are as thoughtful as drone bees.

1) I agreed to be in a League and LIVE draft the day b4 it started.

2) I went to check the software and it worked fine (contrary to what littleGun Shawn has hypothesized about me not chkng out software).

3) Went to check the rules b4 and after: NONE to be found.

4) A half hour before the draft I tried to get into the Live draft site and found i was having connection problem (didn't know whether it was all or just me), so I started writing emails to the WHOLE league (before the draft even started).
5) I wrote 5 emails to the entire league (that's 55 total to 11 guys and nobody has claimed they didn't get them) asking for some help and listing my phone # my AIM and my email. Also asking someone to send me their phone # and i would call them. I GOT NO REPLIES of any sort FROM ANY OF THOSE 55 EMAILS.

No phone calls no emails no help form the commish (who btw i also p5 private messaged). I don't have copies of the emails because they were sent through the league site but all the league members do have copies.

Afterwards those 11 guys (all multitaskers) who claimed not one of them noticed an email until after the draft when they all noticed them. So 11 guys, all multitaskers, who were all online, never noticed email titled "help draft' for over one hour? BULL SHIT!

6) I spent the next hour on league site reclicking draft site and sending emails to all these multitaskers not one of whom claims to be aware of these emails to afterwards. After approx 1 hour of me sweating and swearing at my computer (and eventually the guys) i sent a final message saying that since I was not able to participate in the draft (which I now saw on league site was taking place on draft site) that I would not be participating in the league.

I never agreed to being 'autodrafted' and i wrote all of them emails stating that while draft was going on WITHOUT ME!

BTW I never got a phone call or email from any of these guys until i was emailed by one asking of my intentions. See below:

My intentions? My intentions were to participate in the league. I sent YOU ALL 5 messages asking for some help.

I got none. So I didn't participate did I? As I wrote earlier: Thanks for your help and good luck. Should be crystal clear.

Ditka

Afterwards Shawn and others wrote a number of posts re my behavior where he progressed from 'i was a nice guy he'd been in leagues with and he couldn't understand.... ' to calling me everything just short of being a murderer: P5's league messages checkem out.

I thought his best quote was this one: by: shawngun (McNabby Headed Hoes)

My brother-in-law will buy the team for $100. I read the arguments about autodraft not causing a 50% disadvantage, and I partially agree, but the bottom line is that someone is getting stuck with another guy's team. This particular team is fairly strong at RB, strong at QB, very strong at TE, but then well below average with the WRs and Bench. No one in their right mind would pay the full amount for a team they didn't personally draft. The draft is 1/2 the fun.

I guess that didn't apply to me?

So that's all folks.

Ditka89

P.S. I've seen some email re Ditka88 and fantasy baseball. I don't know ditka88. I was never in any fantasy baseball league- ever. I assumed he was a fan/copier. I was p5's ranked 2 yrs ago before I got old and started 'welching'.

2. And just as I was about to go to sleep.

You might want to edit out your phone number. Just sayin

Also, you missed the draft...tough shit. Better luck next year. Pay your dues and try to make the best out of what you got.

Sincerely,

OT Punk

3. LitteGun? icwudt

Pay up, moron.
4. this clown is sooooooo pathetic.... he expects us to be monitoring our emails during the draft (I wasn't, don't know if others were) so that we can see that his system is down and we can indefinitely pause the draft for him (if that is even possible? can a commish do that?)

Ummmm, has anyone had a participant not able to be at the draft last minute, or not able to log in? What normally happens in your league? Does that particpant say "aw crap, I have to live with the autodrafted team, but obviously I'm paying because I don't want to be a dickhead to the rest of you" ? Or does your participant say "fuck you guys, I'm not paying shit, you didn't read your email and stop your draft for me!!!" ?

Jesus Christ, this guy is 64 years old, and not only does he stiff us, but he now comes and posts a thread about how it was our responsibility to read our emails and get him into the draft so we could get his entry fee!!!

Mother Fucking Pathetic.

I leave the rest to OT.

5. And here is one of the messages you can see...this is what BGX wrote after Ditka said he wasn't paying because he couldn't connect to the draft room:

"As most of you all know by now, Ditka was unable to be present for the draft. He drafted on autopick. Since I've seen many people do this in the past, I didn't think anything of it. In fact, it was halfway through the draft before I even realized he was autodrafting.

Anyway, he hadn't paid yet. He wanted me to play in one of his leagues and wanted to square up after we decided if I'd play. Since I had no issues with Ditka before, I thought nothing of it.

I'm assuming he will not pay because for some reason, he believes it is all our responsibility to make sure he was where he needed to be. I've done these P5s drafts for the last few years, and I have never had someone come back afterwards and accuse the league of "starting without them" or "not answering emails" or any of that. With the "autodraft" option available, if someone can't make it or have a friend cover down for them, the draft continues as planned. I couldn't reasonably expect the entire league to reschedule, especially when only a few of us actually know each other. There is no reason for me to expect someone to wait on me because I couldn't be where I needed to be.

There is that test screen on Yahoo's Fantasy homepage to make sure your draft will show up. If you did not show up 30 minutes prior and run the test, I don't know what to tell you. Those things are all clearly posted on the front page of the league, along with all the league settings.

Here are the possible Courses of Actions as I see them:

1) Ditka pays the $200 and takes the team that was autodrafted for him. This is the best COA, as nothing changes.

2) Ditka doesn't pay:
A) We play with one team short and I'll manage that team the rest of the year.

B) I find someone to manage that team. Maybe I let them in for half price since they are accepting someone else's.

C) We redraft.

Obviously I would like to see Ditka pay the $200 and play with the team that he drafted. If not, we need to decide how we want to proceed. Please let me know what you think.

Shawn"

6. Shawn>Ditka here

7. BGX would never screw anyone over IMO....one of the nicest guys I've met, and 100% genuine....seems like another classic case of ..." fuck it, I just don't want to pay "

Pay up OP
8. So where do FLB and Sicktight fit in here again?
9. BGX is not screwing anyone, simple as that, the man has integrity and would have no reason to fuck anyone over. Pay up.
10. I was in the league and remember all of this going down in the days after the draft... I always liked Ditka before this fiasco.... I will say I have NEVER seen anything handled the way he did.. I'm not gonna get too much into it but to personally attack the members of the league like you did b/c YOU couldn't get on the damn software is ridiculous. To imply that BGX and the rest of us purposely didn't respond to your e-mails b/c we were trying to screw you over is just preposterous. I know that personally I check my e-mail twice a day at most and it sure as hell ain't while I'm 12 tabling poker and drafting a fantasy team, I can't speak for the rest of them but to call everyone liers is stupid.. you acted like a 12yr old during all of this and really changed my opinion of you as a person as I'm sure you did for everyone else in the league
1
11. OP sent the emails through the yahoo website? Who the hell checks that? Especially when your going to be drafting. Just pay the 200 hundo and move on. Even if the whole league had seen your 55 emails, do you really expect that everything stops for you and the draft starts over or is rescheduled? Come on......
12. I have participated in fantasy football leagues here in OT, and other forums, over the past few years. I have had to auto draft a couple times due to last minute things and work scheduling conflicts. The last team that I auto drafted did well and just missed the playoffs. I manually drafted this year, and had worse results. These leagues are all about fun and bragging rights more than anything else. Ditka89 should do the right thing and pay up. It's only a couple of hundred dollars, and that is a small price for your credibility and honor Ditka89. It's just a game and $200 you agreed to pay to participate in, if you could not connect or participate in the draft, then that is on you, not everyone else.
13. lol i just love how he calls BGX "littlegun" like its an incredibly clever burn. old guys are funny.
14. Wow I am dumbfounded. I can normally almost always argue either side of the argument. I got nothing to argue for Ditka.
15. PAY UP!!!!! u are a disgrace to the name DITKA, if ur not going to pay, plz change ur name

16. Why didnt you guys just re-draft? Seems simple enough.
17. Just pay up asshole

thats what you agreed to at the start

any reason you couldnt draft was your fault

PERIOD
18. Sorry you are retarded and didnt have the updated java. There is a link right on the homepage before EVERY draft on yahoo that says "click here to test your system".

Once these drafts start, there is no way for a commish to pause them.
You are clearly a fantasy football noob, a moron, and a fucking douchebag for trying to calling out other people in your league and placing the blame on them.
Pay your money you chump.
19. [ ] perfect time to get this sorted out.

[x] grossman for league mvp 09
20. OT Fantasy Football Leagues have the same success rate as Subprime Mortgages. True story.
21. This is being posted in January? Should this not have been cleared up in August? Now there is some grudge holding if i ever saw it.
22. I run 3 fantasy leagues a year... Here is a tip.
Entry money HAS to be paid BEFORE the draft. Try it sometime, it works.
23. This whole post cracks me up. To be honest, I hadn't thought about it in months. I don't know why Ditka89 felt the need to bring it up again. Anyway, here's my take:

First, his facts are pretty accurate. He apparently had computer issues and couldn't get on. Also, he did send out emails, but as some people have already said, not all of us check our email on 30 minute intervals. I check mine once or twice a day. I've got a family, work, and occasionally poker, and I just can't get on to my Yahoo email all the time.

Anyway, my main issue is that for some reason, Ditka89 felt that it was our/my responsibility to make sure that his stuff works. That just blows my mind. I have participated in dozens of drafts, and almost every time someone ends up drafting on auto-draft. How in the world am I to assume that he's not doing that on purpose? This guy is 60+ years old and still refuses to take responsibility for his own actions.

I was always taught to respect my elders, and I afford Ditka89 that same respect. I had known him through the online community over the past 3 years, and he had always been upstanding and a generally nice guy. I really believe that he was embarrassed by his inability to get online and decided to lash out at the group. My grandparents are in their late 60s and they get frustrated with their computer, too. I really believe that if Ditka89 really took a step back and thought about what happened, he would understand that the other members of the league should bear no responsibility in ensuring that he's present for an ONLINE draft. Apparently he's still pissed about it, for whatever reason, which is funny since he never paid his money.

For those saying he should have paid beforehand, I agree 100%. This league was the 2nd OT league of the season and we had trouble filling it. He said he would participate with a few days of the draft, and I told him to send when he could. Because of my positive history with him, I wasn't worried. Since he ended up not paying, and since I didn't enforce him paying, I accepted the responsibility and said I'd pay.

Curtass ended up saying he'd take the team. However, Curtass and I were on completely different schedules and he was stuck in the middle of Afghanistan with work. I ended up managing the team.

The good news is this: Curtass felt that he should pay even though he never fully took control of the team. I offered to split the cost of the league, and Curtass agreed. Curtass is clearly a class act, if you couldn't already tell by now. Then, on top of that, Nate Jizzle and Resilient (not knowing that Curtass and I were working out payment) decided that they would each sacrifice $50 of their winnings since they ended up taking 1st and 2nd. It was completely unnecessary, but it was extremely cool of them. So, basically 3 guys stepped up to the plate and covered the cost of Ditka89 reneging on his entry fee. Huge props to Curtass, Nate Jizzle, and Resilient. They made sure that no one else felt the repercussions of the rocky start with Ditka89.

Thanks to everyone in this thread who said something about it. Clearly Ditka89 doesn't get it. I'm kinda shocked that he'd write something about it 5 months after he already decided he wasn't going to pay. I don't know why he is trying to strum up support at this point, but I am confident that 9 out of 10 people will disagree with him. This is about accepting responsibility. I feel sorry for a guy that in his 60s and still refuses to accept his.

It cracks me up that he calls me Little Gun, like somehow I'm a bad guy because HE didn't pay his money. I'm sure Ditka89 is a nice guy. I just really can't grasp how he feels it's our responsibility to ensure he's able to work the technical aspect of his computer. I assumed since he plays poker online that he's savvy enough to draft. At this point, we're not going to agree on it. Not a big loss.

Thanks again to Resilient, Curtass, and Nate Jizzle for stepping up huge. I appreciate it big time.

24. BGX OWNS!

FYI, Ditka made post responding to Resilient's post from yest I believe -

25. wait, it wasn't a 50K buy-in? from op I just assumed...
26. I was in this league also and Ditka is a POS. I was playing poker and drafting, he seriously expects us to be looking at our e-mails too? Guy is out-of-this-world retarded.

27. wow I didn't realize this was the poker Ditka, I just assumed it was that other OT Ditka guy

well, I for one believe Ditka and think that LGX and the OT punks were simply out to get him

28. For the win ditka...

29. I didnt read much of the OP. As soon as i saw the littlegun comment i stopped pretty much.

Anyone who calls out Shawn. Someone who took bullets for us over in Desert Storm and his given so much of his time and money to this community deserves to curbstomped. Wubangled. Whatever. I dont care how old or senile he may be.
30. BGX, I called the guy out at a table last night - the first night I had communicated with him since the beginning of the season. It wasn't only that he welched, but the manner in which he did it - blaming the rest of the league for his problem, and then refusing to pay like a little bitch - stuck with me, and I had planned to call him out at some point. So I decided to post it again in OT last night to make sure he didn't screw anyone else over...and then a few of us gave him some more shit on FTP while he was playing.

I generally agree with you on respecting older people... but in my book, when someone steps out of line this far, those rules of respect go out the window, and they are fair game. This guy's actions were reprehensible, and his continuing attitude toward the situation shows that he lives a highly egocentric existence. 99 out of 100 long-term OTers with a positive reputation would have done what anyone I know would have done - stepped up, paid the $200, taken the autodrafted team and moved on. But not this clown.

So, I stirred it up... and I'm glad I did. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the money... I just don't want people in OT thinking that this guy is someone they can trust to transact with on any level.
