Recommendations for a new cell phone carrier (Verizon or AT&T)? What kind of phone?

    I have Alltel right now and I hate it. My plan is up in June but I might just pay the termination fee because its so awful. Any recommendation between Verizon or AT&T and why? Also any recommendations on a phone? I have the Palm Treo right now and hate it.

    After being with Verizon for the past 11 years I finally made the jump to AT&T JUST so I could get an iPhone. And let me tell you, it is SO worth it.

    GET AT&T AND GET AN IPHONE.

    Now when you're out with your woman and she wants to just "stop in that store real quick", instead of getting impatient and annoyed you can just whip out your phone and have the entire internet at your disposal. Its great, I cannot tell you how many times having this phone has saved me.

    If you get AT&T never move to West Tenn or West Ky, Verizon has a monopoly on this area with coverage.

    I'll be living in Cleveland...so I'm not worried about that. I'm just looking for a recommedation from existing users.

    Verizon has the best coverage but they run their business like a bunch of thieves so I can't recommend them (I cannot wait til this contract is up)

    I have Verizon too, and I have had nothing but good service. It seems to me that cell phone companies always get mixed reviews. I just say AT&T for the iphone, Verizon has the Voyager, but it is not as cool as the iPhone.

    I am kinda opposed to getting the iphone only because I have the ITouch ipod...more or less the exact same thing without the phone component.

    Over the past 10 years, I've had Cingular, Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon.

    Verizon is far and away the best service and customer service I have had.

    Amen. I've had Sprint, Verizon and AT&T, Sprint was the worst customer service of the 3.

    What verizon phone do you have?

    if you're gonna go with verizon, do NOT get the voyager. total waste of $$.

    get the enV, the enV and voyager are EXACTLY the same, except the voyager has a touchscreen and costs like... $250 more. If you're getting a new plan, enV's are only 80 bucks? i have one and its fkin great, i love it!

    AT&T and iPhone. you can't go wrong with this. i've never had Verizon, but AT&T has been A+++

    verizon definitely has the best coverage nationwide. however, their customer service is fucking horrendous. they constantly make errors on your bill that the only way you can fix is to talk to 90 different people that don't know what they're doing, only to be bombarded by late fees/taxes that again, you need to talk to a million people to get rid of. my one friend was charged for each individual text message he sent (over 4,000 on the month) even though he was charged $30 for unlimited text messages. well, turns out verizon "forgot" that they charged him for the text plan, so they charged him for each individual message too. obv just one of many many horrible stories with verizon......... i got an iphone and switched to at&t like 5 months ago. had to talk to customer service twice because my phone wasn't activating correctly, both times they fixed the issue, no problems. havn't had a problem with service yet in the ny/nj/ct/pa area, and also when i went to vegas for a while. i'd go AT&T for sure. fuck verizon...they suck

    I have a Blackberry. I think it's the 7130e. My wife has the Pearl (not necklace), and I like mine a lot more.

    I've had Verizon for over 5 years and I have nothing to complain about.

    I was with verizon for around 8 years the last part of 2007 i started dropping calls all the GD time. Tried different phones had the techs look at it etc nothing seem to work. I eventually got pissed and started looking into other carriers. Apparantly verizon uses a different network/frequency/whatever it is called than anyone else. My personal opinion is they are behind the times in reference to technology. Keep in mind i am an idiot.

    I now use AT&T as my provider and have not had any problems so far and it is also cheaper. I travel about 12 days amonth all over the US and Canada. I even went to costa rica and my AT&T Palm Treo worked there better than my Verizon service worked at home. I also have several co-workers that are experiencing problems with Verizon and are considering a change.
