  1. About to listen to it for the first time. Has anybody listened to it yet? Thoughts? A little worried about a Frusciante-less RHCP, but I actually dug One Hot Minute when Navarro played with them way back in the days.

  3. Kreayshawn (Gucci, Gucci, Fendi, Fendi, Prada) is directing their first video.

    this.

rhcp pwn souls, its gotta be good!
  5. RHCP are my favorite band, but I have to say I am a little disappointed by the album. I've only listened to it once so far, and I probably need to give it two or so more listens to really form a good opinion, but the early thoughts aren't great. Then again, I also didn't love Stadium Arcadium after the first listen, and now I've listened to it 100+ times and it's one of my favorite albums ever. We'll see.

The video is out and she did not direct it.

  6. Yeah, I just read that. She did direct the first shoot of the video. Apparently it sucked and they re shot it with Marc Klasfeld.
  7. FLEAAAAAAAAAAA
  8. Liked raindance maggie at first, kind of getting overplayed already.
  9. This is horrible news. What happened to John, doing the H again?
  10. John wanted to explore an individual career I believe. On the first play-through I kinda felt underwhelmed. I think my favorite song was Even You Brutus? after the first listen through. Look Around and Monarchy of Roses were also pretty good.

This album reminds me of how I felt after listening to By the Way for the first time. After a few plays I ended up really liking that album though. I do miss Frusciante.

  11. actually liked that song except for the chorus...
  12. Just listened... their best days are certainly behind them, but they are still better than 99 percent of the shit that gets put on the radio these days. Always will have mad love for Flea and Anthony.
  13. my opinion on the chili peppers has always been that somehow they find it impossible to make bad songs...therefore that album is probably awesome...i'm quite mind boggled on how those guys only make good music

lol like half their early catalog + prob a dozen songs from stadium arcadium sucked. sorry. i love em but still overrated as hell. no way they should have lasted as long as they do. someone else (a la aerosmith) prob writing their shit for the past decade. and anthony k. still only half as talented as mike patton, yet he tries to claim mike ripped HIM off lololol

or maybe i should restate that and say that those guys only release amazing singles...it's like every single they put out is gold jerry
  16. They peaked with Californication, which I think is one of the best albums of the past 15-20 yrs. I can't say I'm excited about this album, especially without Frusciante, but I'll def give it a listen.

wow no this wasn't their peak. Obv BloodSugarSexMagik was the best album but I think the album before that, Mothers Milk, is their 2nd best. One Hot Minute got bad reviews by most but I actually dug it. Uplift Mofo party Plan is pretty funky as well......

this i 100% agree with, i love em but they are no where near as celebrated as they should be. longevity doesn't = greatness.

and i'm also still sure someone else writes their singles/last few albums. it's so drastically different from their first few albums. blood sugar sex magic is so much diff than stadium arcadium it's not even close.

You misunderstood what I meant. Californication was imo their last great album. I haven't liked their stuff since then, except for a few singles here and there.

they sound like different groups wrote them. i can name a lot of bands who wrote albums 15 years apart and while they sound diff they don't sound like two diff groups wrote them. unless of course in many cases two diff groups DID write them (pink floyd)

    Agree 100% !!!

Also agree with sketchy but this is how the Economical machine works, once a band maid great things they have the financial/support needed to continue and it can goes on and on for years unless they begin to produce shit or get fucked up by brugs..

I still feel there is a huge amount of unrated artist that can take the place of any of the shit for ear player that we can hear on most of the radio.

add "By the Way" to that as well, I feel like this is the case with all there albums basically, to me its one of their qualities, there music isn't the popy, catchy, type of music its actually quality well written music thats grows into something more as it ages........that said I'm just a huge RHCP fan!!

  24. I completely missed that this was out, got a copy today. Seriously underwhelmed... will obviously listen again in a couple days, but this was the worst album in at least 23 years. Come back, Frusciante...
  25. I am excite
  26. imo the only one thats still relevant is Flea, re: his work with Atoms for Peace
  27. couldnt agree with sketchy more itt.

  28. Oh and, In before Mr. Blonde says that everything after Blood Sugar Sex Magik is garbage.
  29. for all you Peppers fans i recommend you read the book "Scar Tissue". Very interesting read.
  30. i've seen the chili peppers 6 times and used to be in a cover band (lol). they definitely peaked at BSSM, californication was pretty great, by the way had some fucking incredible gems but a lot of poppy trash, and stadium arcadium could have been a great album if they made it 12 songs total. i cant even listen to the new shit because it is the same poppy trash they have been trending towards for a while.

as for their early catalogue being trash- its not. it's just completely different from what people who know the 90's rhcp expect. it had a lot of weird songs but they were a funky energetic and pretty immature band, thats all.
