  1. Unbelievable accomplishment for the Reds. Definitely didn't expect that. Could this be the the turing of the tide between these teams? Cards usually dominate the Reds. Obviously this is just a battle the Reds won and the war isn't over, but pretty impressive stuff. Nice job, Cincy.
  2. Cards have some major problems to address (defense and bullpen specifically). Reds did a good job taking advantage of those weaknesses

  3. The NL Central no longer belongs to St Louis, Reds runnin dis bitch.
  4. Chapman can't throw a strike and they really need him this year.

If he cant come in and hold it down with a 7 run lead then his next appearance has to be in Louisville.

-Carpenter hasn't lost to the Reds since 2006.
-Reds' first sweep of the Cards since 2007

Given recent history, it's an unexpected accomplishment (i.e. unbelievable) for this team.

    -Carpenter hasn't won in 2011

Given recent history, the Reds won the NL Central last year...therefore, sweeping anybody shouldn't be an unbelievable accomplishment.

Oh that's right...he got a win in his last outing where he gave up 13 hits and 4 runs as the Cards scored 4 in the 7th or something.

Point is, he hasn't been very good...and you definitely shouldn't be very excited about beating him.

At least he broke his string of games with giving up 10+ hits today at 3...he managed to only give up 9.

And no Wainwright...and basically no Carpenter.

It's pretty obvious that McClellan isn't going to be able to keep pace for an entire season, but I think Lohse can be really, really solid as a #3/4. Jaime is nails, and if they can just get Carpenter right, they would be running away and hiding already.

It seems as though Salas is a solid option at the end of the 'pen right now...only took 10 blown saves to find him.
  28. It wouldn't hurt if the Cards' bats gave Carp the same run support they give the rest of the squad

A few times...he's also given up the most hits in the entire league (or had), and just flat-out hasn't been good this season.

  30. He's without a doubt a shell of his former self to this point.

But he could still use the run support. They showed it on FSN during his last start; he's the odd man out in the rotation when it comes to offensive help. Just the way it is. He pitched solid (albeit against SD) in his last start only giving up 8 hits and 0 walks in 8 IP (WHIP of 1.00). But iirc, he lost 2-1 or 1-0.

He'll come around. And the offense will continue to be dominant, so he will see some better support
