    Ok, so I'm having an arguement with a friends mom right now. I have two roommates, they are dating and share a room. I pay half of the rent and the pay the other half. I find it unfair that they pay less than me bc they share a room. I feel it should be 1/3rd 1/3rd 1/3rd.

    What does OT think?

    A - I should pay half the rent since they share a room.
    B - It should be even all around.

    You should move out, I doubt it's possible to resolve that. You'll end up resenting each other and get into fights etc.

    Half rent but they pay 100% utilities. Probably never going to happen but worth a shot.

    3 of you live there. 3 of you pay equal shares of rent. It makes little difference that they share a room. They use the bathrooms, kitchen and living room don't they. Your problem is that you did not figure this out before you signed the lease or maybe before she moved in, if that happened later. It sounds like you have already started accepting 1/2 the rent from the two of them, if that's the case then it is probably too late to change the deal now.

    were they dating when u guys got the place? if so then 1/3rd around, if he/she moved in after u and other person were there already, then 1/3rd around

    Actually I paid my entire year up front and just decided to pay half and I was supposed to be reimbursed for some of that but the fact is we've lived here for 2 months and neither one of them have paid fuckin rent yet so until they do this is my fuckin apartment.

    I'm in the same situation. My buddy just moved into our spare bedroom ( we live in a 2 bedroom condo). He offered to pay 1/2 the rent and utilities. I am only charging him 1/3 for both. The 3 of us will share all the space in the place, why shouldn't we all share the expenses equally?

    If banging the Mom is out of the question, you can set the terms and ask them to move out since none of them are on the apartment lease..

    They were dating before we moved in but only one of them is on the lease with me.

    Each room should pay half the rent, so you pay 1/2 the rent. The couple pays the other 1/2 of the rent. The utilities should be split into 1/3 for each party living in the house.

    40% of rent 40% of utilities. That being said if I had my girl living with me Id definitely bitch if you pulled that after we had already moved in.

    split the rent for the rooms, then split the rent for the place is the fairest, so for example........

    rent is 1000.......each room would be considered worth 250 and the place would be 500...........so.........

    You pay 250 for your room and they pay 125 each for their room for a total of 500, You pay 166 each for the common areas for a total of 500

    So the rent is 416 for you and they each pay 291, this is the best solution if your rooms are of equal size.

    i had the same situation as you. Me and my g/f lived together with 2 buddies. We split everything 4 ways. Regardless that we were sharing a room.

    common sense ftw.

    Yah I really think 40-60 is fair because they are sharing a room, but what did you agree to before you moved in. Pretty shitty for you though.

    i think u need to worrry about the 2 months rent they haven't paid before trying to figure out a proper divide.
