Rich Cronin, the lead singer of '90s boy band LFO, died Wednesday after a long battle with leukemia, TMZ reports. Cronin suffered a stroke and died in the hospital this afternoon, his brother said. He was 35 years old.

Cronin and his band, LFO, were most known for their 1999 hit song 'Summer Girls,' which Cronin wrote. They also had another top 10 Billboard hit, 'Girl on TV,' which Cronin wrote about Jennifer Love Hewitt--whom he would go on to date for a short time.

Cronin had been fighting acute myelogenous leukemia since 2005 and has been in remission several times, according to Zap2it.com. He started the Rich Cronin Hope Foundation to raise awareness about leukemia and to encourage people to become bone marrow donors.

Several former boy band members have expressed their sadness over Cronin's passing on Twitter. Chris Kirpatrick of *NSYNC fame Tweeted, ""Rip to a great friend rich c." Lance Bass, also of *NSYNC, shared, "Sad sad day that Rich Cronin died- was a amazing guy."

  2. That sucks...I didn't know of LFO when they were big, but Rich was always a guest on The Kidd Chris Show. He was funny as hell. I knew that he had leukemia, but I thought he was over it 100%. I don't know much about leukemia, this was a pretty shocking thread.

  12. Rich was a friend of mine from high school. He was a cool, funny guy. I think Ive mentioned his name in OT a few times when Post of Jennifer Love H was mentioned. I used to always fuck with him when I ran into him (he came back to Plymouth after LFO disbanded). Id say "Dude, let me smell your fingers!!" and he would laugh. He is the first highschool friend that died of a disease. Ive had a couple friend die by thier own hand or car wrecks etc. He was the same age as me and died of a disease which kinda freaks me out. RIP BRA
