  1. dr debakey died this morning....when he was only 23 and still in med school he invented one of the most important pieces of the bypass machine (allows ppl to have heart surgery in the first place)

    a lot of heart surgeries that are standard today he pioneered and were unthought of only a century ago...i wish i had half the drive at 25 that he had when was 80+..anyone who is a leader in their field have ppl like dr debakey to look up to and admire and thank for everything that they consider a 'standard of care'

  4. I actually heard of the guy. I'm a distant relative of Dr. Denton Cooley, who is referred to in the above article as a former rival of Debakey. good to see they patched things up...

    from what i gather an absolute asshole (what CT surgeon isnt??), but a legend nonetheless
