If these people are legit looking for a missing family member, coming on here to ask questions doesnt seem to be too out of the realm of normal behavior. Maybe we should actually listen to what they have to say?

Yea, I just spent the past hour or so reading through this entire thread, as well as the previous threads associated to this thread with the backstory. I actually missed all the previous threads/this thread when it was originally posted/bumped, since I was away from OT busy with various IRL shit the past few months, so basically caught up on this whole thing just right now, reading through it all in one big readthrough.

My thoughts on it after having read all this shit is roughly as follows:

1. It seems like this Paul guy, who was apparently a poster named buschsbaumy on here or whatever, is a pretty batshit guy, based on the types of things he was posting on facebook. As for whether he is all out batshit, like clinically schizophrenic in need of medication, or merely weird, but not actually crazy, and instead just pretending to be crazy in order to control/brainwash his wife into doing various fucked up shit, like going into hiding with him and their kid and keeping their kid away from her parents, is hard to know for sure. My guess is a bit of both.

2. It seems like this Paul guy's wife is probably a pretty gullible and mentally unstable/easy-prey type, and that Paul realized this, and exploited it, basically creating giant bullshit conspiracy stories that he fed to her, which she actually believed, like, making her think that her own parents are satanists who are out to kill her and him/their kid for blood sacrifices or whatever the fuck bullshit he came up with in order to get her to willingly go into hiding with him, when in reality his true motives for going into hiding were to hide from his legal problems regarding copyright infringement or scalping dvds or something like that.

3. It seems like Paul's wife is probably one of those religious nutjob types who has a history of being around over-the-top-religious nutjobs who are like, overly christian to the extent that they try to claim that everything "bad" in life, i.e. sex out of wedlock, porno mags, etc, are workings of the devil. So, this Paul guy (her husband), probably exploited this and used it to trick her into thinking that her own parents were under satanic control or something, by making her think back to how she used to have sex with her bf when she was 15, and read porno magazines etc, and flip it on her by trying to like, fuck up her own vague memory of those incidents into thinking that her parents were secretly "in on it" somehow, with hidden cameras, and forcing her bf to do that to her or some b.s. like that, when all the while her parents were probly just normal regular parents that didn't actually do any fucked up shit ever, and he just brainwashed this chick into think that false stuff he created for her to believe. And thus he was able to get her to go along with him on trying to fake his own death and go into hiding, when really he is just running from legal issues, and using the whole satan story as a cover to get his wife to go along with it and to not give in to her parents pleading to see their grandkid when they are worried about their grandkid's safety.

Thus, I think there is actually a decent chance that the people who posted on here claiming to be the parents/sister of this Paul guy's wife might actually really be her parents and sister as they say, and might actually be genuinely scared for their grandkid/nephew's safety, in which case some of the flippant replies to them that people were making would be kind of sad if that were actually the case.

That said, obv there is a significant chance that some lurker or banned member was reading through the thread, and then pretended to come on here and post as the wife's parents/sister just to troll. But, there is also an actual plausible chance that they aren't fake troll accts and really are the concerned parents/sister of this Paul guy's wife, who are worried about their grandkid/nephew.

Obv everyone is now gonna be like "Okay... sure bfactor... like there's even a 0.00000001% chance of that being the case, obv if they were really the parents/sister of that guy's wife, they would just go to the police, as that would actually be a serious situation." And to that I'd say, yea, they probly did go to the police already, probly many months ago if this dude has had their daughter/grandkid in hiding for the past 10 months. That doesn't mean that they wouldn't search the internet to find old forums of this Paul guy and do the exact type of thing those people posted though, in ADDITION to already having notified the police long long ago.

I'm just saying, it is possible. I'd say it's like 50/50 it's just trolls fucking around, and 50/50 they are actually worried family members trying to see if they can find anyone on here who used to chat with this Paul guy a lot on AIM or PM's to see if they might be able to get a tip on where the guy is hiding out or something, so they can make sure their daughter/grandkid is safe, etc.
