Hey I have no problem with someone who isn't drunk drinking while driving it's no different than drinking an actual soda while driving if you're still legally sober. He asked opinion on it and I think it's probably more fact than opinion that it's completely fucktarded and makes no sense to risk getting some sort of violation (I'm assuming a serious one but it could be mild and thus making it less fucktarded) because you enjoy it and can't wait to drink til you get home.

Unknown, we have a few rules though.

    1. No getting in vehicle with someone who has been drinking.

    2. No drugs

    3. No babies

    4. no getting yourself killed

Ya but it's one of those subjects that is obviously controversial. Too many people have been affected by drinking and driving, whether it be the actual person, friends or family. Obviously having a beer doesn't equal drunk but it's a slippery slope with certain people. People who talk about drinking and driving are usually young people bragging about doing it to friends, (or I guess now, the internet), usually searching for attention. While I don't see anything wrong with having one or two while driving, I don't see the point with our laws. Risking open bottle and depending on when your last sip was, possible DUI, seems to me, in poker terms, a -ev decision long term.

  4. only on the golf course and in missouri.
  5. agreed its a very tough subject but I think OP was reffering to causal drinks while soaking it all in on the road which im cool with. Getting behind the wheel intoxicated is not cool and have taken keys away and gotten in a couple fights over this. I know this prolly seems retarded but there def is a huge line between buzzed and tooned. As an high trained individual in this subject and one that comes from a small town (Where DUIS are more prevalant because often neccesaryas there is no form of transportation) I think it really is player depenedant but not that bad IMO. FWIW isnt it a fact that people that text and drive are more dangerous than drunks?? Swear i heard that one one of the text and drive campaigns

Reason: I'm talking about driving under legal limit IE: 4 beers
  6. Who doesn't love a roadie?

Should be heading up north with one in hand right now

Don't do while driving anymore, learned my lesson there
  7. Road Sodas, Yep everyone I know calls them travellers. I don't have a problem with them as long as the driver hasn't been drinking them.
We have had them many times over the years. Going to BBQ's or to the Golf Course.
The only problem here is the law states no open liquor, beer or wine in the vehicle. Can't remember how much the ticket is. Not worth the hassle anyway.
  8. I guess it all depends on if you're a stickler for rules or not, and sadly our government has made most of us pussies in that regard. There are 1234567890 things that drivers do on a regular basis that is more dangerous on the road than a responsible, sober adult opening up an alcoholic beverage (or even three) while on a short ride to wherever the fuck they are going. And as for worst case scenario, you get pulled over than you make sure there is no actual open beverage still in the vehicle and you stick to your rights but your average American's knowledge of unreasonable search and seizure laws is pretty loltastic and that's a whole topic of its own.

Driving while actually drunk is a terrible act obviously but all the people that advocate harsher and harsher laws to combat this problem which basically ruins so many young students and other people that I know is just unbelievable
  9. Seems hugely -ev
  10. Pretty standard on the way to a baseball game.
  11. I dont drink anymore but when I did.i drank road sodas
  12. popperhead nailed it. Im not looking to get wasted behind the wheel obv but on a road trip in the passenger seat, game on. While driving, its no like driving down a main highway. Maybe before camping or whatever. Im just honestly curious for opinions
    Thread Starter
  13. its definitely not worth the risk
  14. road sodas were cool in 1980 - not so much now
  15. My pops and I enjoy a beer and a joint on the 20 minute ride into DC to watch the caps play. He's usually driving and supplying the booze, if he's willing to risk his license I'm obv cool with it.

If you drive and drink youre a fucking idiot. If you mean a roadie sipper to go when walking then, yes, standard practice.
  17. my dad does it, and i do it. usually its on the way to somewhere where ill be getting drunk like a baseball game or bbq. Always have 2 or 3 on the way to cardinals games. or if ive been drinking at my house and im like 1 or 2 in and going to a bar or something, i might have one on the way. not a big deal imo. never do it on holidays tho when theres a good chance for checkpoints or getting pulled over, still dont mind my friends doing it in my car while im driving tho.

  18. It really depends on the persons tolerance level/ability to handle certain amounts of road sodas. You can argue it but the fact is some ppl handle alcohol better than others (**see sweetness is a ridiculous person thread)

I'm known to have a few but only 1-3 while driving to an event. I stop there because i am still completely aware at that point. If im riding on a trip I'll usually drink and make a game out of it. You just gotta avoid breaking the seal or it's OVER! Lol
  19. ^^ Re: breaking the seal. I just finished my third pint and am about to head home on the subway lets hope shit don't get dicey. Also I got 3 beers for price of 1 and tipped 100% so technically I got 3 for 2
  20. I don't but my dad does. We'll be driving to a bears game, he'll reach under the seat, grab a beer, and tell me "This is a terrible example, never do this, this is terrible." Then takes a huge gulp while I'm rollin up a blunt in the passenger seat. I would be lying if I said I didn't judge him for it. But whatever, not going to say anything. I don't think it's that bad or anything, just don't really see the point of it. The pleasure doesn't seem to outweigh the risk. You could say I'm a hypocrite considering I'm rollin up a blunt in the passenger seat, but nah, I don't smoke anymore. Maybe I used to be.

  21. Ugh shrub I hate that mentality my buddy is a huge pothead and would hot box his car to fuck but god forbid I had a beer on route to a concert or rave. But as they say different strokes for diff folks.

Reason: Even worse cause its his car
  22. Meh I'm kind-of indecisive here. I mean I would never do it but it doesn't bother me all too much that others do. I guess I just find it kind-of pointless. Maybe my thoughts are directed towards the fact that I don't have much leeway when it comes to the law anymore, and try not to do anything that I can potentially get arrested for. I'm overly cautious nowadays, but if things had differed in my past maybe I wouldn't be. I feel the same way about driving and smoking fwiw.

  23. i didnt know what a roadsoda was but after reading this thread i think i might have had a roadsoda problem in the past

  24. america is full of pc pussies

a beer or two at lunch or even one in the road is the norm in many cultures.

seriously...one or two beers wont do anyone harm behind the wheel. eating is far more dangerous especiallly if u spill some on ur lap

Please list these 1234567890 things more dangerous the drinking while driving.
  26. Many many years ago, when I was much younger and dumber Milo than today, I would buy Northern Extra Light Beer. It was 2.5% AbV, so was perfect for long trips up to whereever we planned on getting REALLY stupid.
  27. Only on dirt roads that lead to the mountain, river or lake
  28. Are you MADD sheep really that upset about *passengers* drinking roadies? It's still a road soda, even if you aren't driving. And they're awesome. I wish it was still legal for passengers to drink.

Right here. Me and my friends used to drive dirt roads drinking road pops just for something to do, but we grew up in a small town with literally nothing around us. Now, when I'm headed to a northern lake, once I get past the last city there is nothing wrong with reaching into a case, popping a bottle, rolling down the windows and taking in the smell of pine trees with a beer.

And if you're the passenger, who gives a fuck if you're having a drink if the driver is sober.
