i don't know how much a large pizza is, but let's say it is $10. So the price is going up 1.4%? I would be willing to pay 1.4% more for everything I buy if it means healthcare for all. Is it fair to everyone? Fuck if I know.
if that is fair, ethical, moral...or even if companies will pay more for healthcare (or pass it on the the comsumers) is a different argument I guess.
But my point is if 1.4% is what it takes to get everyone in this country some healthcare then let's do this already. I'll be the first in line to pay $101.40 for a bottle of bourbon instead of $100.00. -
Edited By: ECUgirl Aug 9th, 2012 at 11:32 PMI don't hate anyone (we've already had this discussion). And if everything we buy goes up 1%--for now--that would start to add up over time. Trust me, I whine about the COL all the time. I haven't had a raise in four years, but everything has gone up considerably, so I now make way less money than I did five years ago. It sucks.Originally Posted by EyeKnows
oh the horror, prices will go up by $.14/$16.
that's less than 1% for anyone math-challenged and curious.
unreal that some people hate the uninsured working folks so much. I'll gladly pay 1% more for pizza/etc. if so many working-class people will now have some kinda health insurance that currently do not. seems like an easy price to pay.
COL goes up by way more than that every single year and I hear no one whining about that.
**I'm glad all you guys are willing to pay more. I'm already stretched about as thin as I can get. And I do the responsible thing and pay for my own health insurance. I may actually drop it if I find out it's cheaper to pay the fine. Why bother with it if there aren't any pre-existing conditions anymore? Just buy it when you need it and throw the $400 in a savings account every month. -
sorry but I dont think 14 cents is going to stop anyone from buying a pizza
-
the problem with that plan is that you kind of need it all the time. At least in my family. Allergist every month. Dentist every 6 months. Eye doctor once a year. Blood tests every 3-6 months so I can keep getting my drugs. etc etc. Allergy meds for the kid, my Requip, borth control...I doubt a wekk goes by where we are not using our insurance. At least that is the case with my family.

Why would employers continue to pay for healthcare for their employees if they know the gov't will do it and save them money? I know my employer pays over half of my health insurance every month. I pay around $400 per month for me and my two kids. I couldn't afford it if my employer didn't contribute. I'd be forced to have the shitty gov't insurance.
-
Meanwhile, papa johns' local indy owned competitors can't afford to provide healthcare to its employees so they go under and now they no longer have a job or health insurance.
Just another example of well intentioned bleeding hearts screwing small business owners while aiding evil multi national corporations. -
I thought you WERE the government. That is not my attempt at a joke..I just really thought you worked for the state and therefore had insurance through the state of NC.

I work for the State of NC, but I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance, just like every other state employee.

Edited By: ECUgirl Aug 9th, 2012 at 11:48 PMDon't come in here and talk all logical and stuff! We need to feel good about how helpful we are and how everyone is going to have a great job, free healthcare, and butterflies and rainbows in their backyard everyday. And we'll all live happily ever after. Don't you know we have a money tree in this country and the money won't ever run out?Originally Posted by 36crazyfists

**Oh and you guys are so dense if you think I'm talking about the price difference of one pizza. Of course we can all afford an extra 14 cents for one pizza. I'm looking at the big picture and how much extra expense it'll be if every single thing we buy goes up 1 or 2%. That could start to add up. -
Is this the Indy owned competitor you are referring to?

ohhhh, you meant "indie". -
Price of delivery wouldn't even really go up. If a pizza cost 12.61 after tax I'm probably going to give 15 dollars with tip. If the price goes up to 12.75 I'm still going to give 15 dollars with tip. Turns out the delivery guy is paying the 14 cents for his own insurance. All is right in the world

The real winner here is the cook -
wouldn't most PapaJohns employees still be covered under their parents plans if they didn't offer insurance? Should a pizza delivery boy be paid enough to buy a 3 bedroom home and put his kids through college? Did we all waste our time trying to make a career when we could just deliver pizzas?
Are any jobs suitable for high school or college kids anymore? Shouldn't all jobs just be full time 35 hour weeks with sweet bennies now? -
And I thought zep was white. huh

Uncle Jerome imo

Well, we have to be fair, ginwilly! Just because you went to college and worked hard doesn't mean that that Papa John's employee shouldn't be entitled to the exact same quality of life as you have. Get with the program! I think we should just not allow people make any more than what's absolutely necessary to just provide the basics for their families. I hear that's how they do it Norway. There aren't really any rich or poor people, everyone is just right :)

I'm just thinking back to high school when I delivered pizza.. I want my reparations.

From the sound of it, that's how they do it in Garner too! Zing!!!

I would think that people who wanted pizza delivery people to have healthcare would just pay more or tip really well so they could afford it.
so if 16 cents is fine as a pizza cost raise, how much would be too much? would obamacare supporters itt spend 80 cents? $4? would you really not pay an extra $10 if it helps some poor kid have health insurance, you heartless bastards? -
I love it when the ot-conservatives ape all that Rush-speak, it's sfawesome.
-
so you aren't willing to spend $.14 more so everyone has health-care then what amount would you spend? $.09? $.01? surely there is an amount that would be OK for you.

you cheap-ass bastard, how much do you tip the delivery driver so he can have health-care? -
I think the last time I listened to/watched Rush Limbaugh was in about 1995ish? Can't stand that dude.

14 cents gives everyone healthcare? I think you mean 14 cents (or whatever other amount per business) times everything you buy ever would be a better way to put it. doubt papa john's is paying the paper boy's healthcare. -
lol. .14 on everything? you mean no companies already offer health insurance? very small businesses aren't exempt?
-
if you didn't know I was saying the same thing as you, welp-o-rama.

the number I'd be willing to pay is considerably higher than $.14/pizza. what's your number you cheap bastard?
