Best player hes played against some dude from his hood in Queens lmao!!
Listen to how serious he is.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFFn-kH7WMw -
He's acting serious but he has to be joking. If not, he was on some good shit during that shootaround. Look at him, he can't be still the whole time.
-
lol what was Barkley's reaction? <3 Sir Charles
-
i dont think he is kidding. and somehow, i believe the man
-
How can you take that serious after he says that brandon roy is the best player he's played against over Lebron and Kobe.
-
how did you end up vs the german donk yesterday Jhass?
-
Artest is the Best!
-
I believe him....there are plenty of great players out there who never get a chance at the NBA. Look at Rafer Alston for example he was a NYC streetball legend for years before getting a shot. Another good example is Earl "The Goat" Marigold he is easily known as the greatest player to never play in the NBA. There is a kid in Italy right now that is like 16 who is supposedly really good.
-
This is 100% feasible. It is an opinion question anyway, douchenozzle.
The amount of talent in an inner-city pickup game is unbelievable. It is definitely not that far-fetched for him to have played against somebody from his hood who was downright nasty, but never went to school (or in this case--went to jail).
You completely dismissing it as a serious response and then badgering anybody who says it's plausible is pretty close-minded IMO... -
Best MC in the Game Yo.. East Coast son.

why my niggaz never get that cake?/why a nigga better then Jordan upstate, didnt get that break??
if you really think this is impossible, wow, wasted talent is all over the world. -
Well yeah, except Artest already lost all credibility to talk about...well...anything...when he says that Roy is better than Kobe or Lebron lololololololololol

As amazing as Kobe and Lebron are, it is 100% plausible that there is someone who can ball better than them.

Yah I didn't watch the interview, so I knew nothing about this.

However, let's remember what an opinion is. Maybe Artest has a much harder time guarding Brandon Roy than he does Kobe. He is an elite wing defender in the NBA (probably THE elite wing defender). If he thinks it's harder to guard Roy than Kobe/LeBron, then I see nothing wrong with him saying Roy is better than them.
Maybe that's how he gauges players?? -
This is exactly what Ron Ron means about Roy and random QB baller guy. Anyone who plays sports knows there is always one/two/three guys that always have your #. Ask any great hitter, I'm sure they will name some mediocre pitcher that would always give them fits.

That being said, I think people are overestimating the % chance that there are guys out there in the world that could just waltz into the nba and be as consistently good as top flight NBA players. I'll use Alston as an example. He was known as the best streetballer BEFORE he got to the L. He is now a mediocre but solid, tier 2 NBA pg. Kobe/Lebron/Wade are leaps and bounds better than Skip.
I'll be kinda sad to see the blazers go down, but can't wait for Rockets/Lakers. -
JRoth knows his NBA

no doubt about it, this. These guys aren't the best just because they have the most talent, they are the best because they are highly trained and have been training for years (likely their whole lives) to do what they are doing right now. If the statement was: "I played with guys with more natural ability than Kobe" then that is something viable, but no way, no how has Ron Artest played with people on the playgrounds that have Kobe's talent and have had that talent nurtured the way NBA players have.Originally Posted by MangosPapa

i didnt watch the vid but maybe he meant at that time this kid was his toughest competition. meaning when artest was a teen playing this kid he struggled the most playing against. he plays guys in the nba now that are way better but artest is way better now than when he was a teen therefore he has closed the gap btw himself and the competition.
i didnt watch the clip but i dont think he was saying this guy is the best player in the world just the player that was toughest for him to play against.
also, if you dont play in the NBA you cant even be in the conversation as one of the best in the world. pple use rafer alston as an example, well he is an above average player in the league but no where even close to the best. all these NBA players grew up playing in the streets and w/ the experience of playing against the best competition every day they would dominate any street game. I'm talking mostly guards and small forwards, guys like yao are clearly better but the street game isnt a half court game or a big mans game its a guards game. but any D1 college team playing on the black top would beat the best street ballas imo. -
okay i watched the vid now, i think he just meant that roy and this guy from the hood were his toughest competition. he never said they were the best players in the world. some guys just have your number. and to be honest i dont think any player has had as good of games against artest like roy has so i believe him.

Look up the last time kobe or lebron dropped 42 on artest
BRoy is the muthafuckin man.
