  1. My laptop is before HDMI times so it has s video connections and VGA. I purchased an S video to RCA cable to plug my laptop into my tv. When I plug it in though it shows up black and white. The tv is 720 plasma and the laptop is a Dell inspiron e1705 that I got back in 2007.

I was considering getting a VGA to HDMI cable but from what I read I need to have a special video board that I have no idea about.

Anyone have any ideas or any settings on my computer I should check?

    Thanks
  2. might be graphics card settin...

or it could be the format, like PAL or whatever isn;t the same.

I dunno to be honest. turn it off and back on again?

is it a cheap cable too? i had one years ago a VGA to RCA one and couldnt get it to work at all...
  3. Is one of the pins on the s-video cable bent or missing?
  4. well my computer has a 7 pin plug but the wire i got is only 4... would that matter? didnt even think to check that when i got it

yeah don't worry about it, those other 3 pins are optional....just like speed limits, surgeon general's warnings, and subpoenas
