I am taking my fiancée on a mini vacation for her birthday. Which of these two places would you choose and why? What is there to do in either of these cities? We are going the weekend of the 12th in October. Never been to either city so any advice would be helpful
-
San antonio is terribad!!!!
-
they're both good imo, san antonio will obv be way hotter
-
San Fran imo
-
Never been to either but I'd choose San Antonio
-
Is there a reason youre only option are those two?
-
Actually it's not. A riverwalk hotel and the hospitality and food is excellent. Their are tons of things to do. BUT, having been to both (San Antonio a lot) San Fran is an easy choice. So much more beautiful, Napa, Alcatraz, Ghiradelli Square, Pier 39, trolleys etc is just so nice.
I would go to San Fran and if u have a car (if u dont get one) take the 2 hr drive to South Lake Tahoe as well. -
I vote San Fran -- San Antonio is fun, but once you've seen the Alamo and cruised the Riverwalk there isn't a whole lot left that is overly impressive. Food is solid, and its a cool environment. I haven't done any missions tours yet, but if you aren't big history buffs I think SF should win out.

If you play golf The Quarry in San Antonio is a must play. It's one of the most unique awesome golf experiences there is. Possibly my favorite round of golf ever was there
-
Football game is pushing it, golf def won't happen that'd be awesome tho
-
I've heard SA is pretty sweet with riverwalk and whatnot but its a simple choice for SF
-
October?
While you are correct in the food and hospitality is good not much else is, My point was San Fran is a waaaaaaaaaaaaay better choice as you pointed out!Originally Posted by orgnalsooners

If you go to candlestick, my only advice would be to get there super early. The logistics of getting in and out of that stadium/parking lot are among the worst Ive ever seen. Its basically one way in and one way out, and public transportation isnt an option.
-
Would I need a car in San Fran or could I just take trollies and what not everywhere?

If you're only going somewhere for a day or two, I hate to say it, but I'd go to San Fran. There really is no place like it. The political climate and all the weirdos make it just about the last place I would ever want to live, but there is excellent scenery, food and compact enough that you can get to lots of stuff to do within a day or two. You'll be busy enough that you probably won't have time to notice the things that make is such an awful place to be for more than a weekend. If you get a chance, drive to the top of the tallest hill in the People's Republic of Berkeley. It's one of the most impressive views in the country.
If you are going for three days or more, S.A. is the easy choice. Spend a day and night on the riverwalk (Hotel Valencia is the tits), and then venture out to the Hill Country, New Braunfels, Austin and Lockhart. That part of TX is a whole different world. Great food, nice, friendly people, beautiful country and lots of stuff to see and do - just quite a bit more spread out than the SF Bay Area, and tough to do in a couple days. -
Yeah but what is the better spot to masterbate?

Done the touristy stuff before and will be in SF area next week.15-23
Anybody got recommendations for things to do, places to go, people to see.
restaurants, mary jane, etc.
Looks like there is a big music festival this weekend I will be missing, o well.
I know the A's play Indians and Twins and Giants are away. boo-urns
(been to both stadiums anywho)
I would like to golf, was looking at Harding Park and Roddy Ranch (close to where we are staying in Pittsburg?)
Any help would be helpfull.
edit: been down to Monterrey area as well, but not to golf, saw the aquarium and 17 mile drive. -
Any normal person woukd obv pick SF unless ur some dorky ass cowboy u rly should have no reason or desire to ever go to texas/ dumbest thread ever cmon op
-
I hear nothing but good things about San antonio and that's one of the two pales my fiancée picked.
-
If you don't plan on leaving the city you don't need a car. Place is tiny, can get around on public transportation and walk everywhere. If only there for a weekend no reason to leave the city imo
-
I'd love to go to SA, my dad was stationed in Corpus Christ and always loved SA, have an aunt who lives there too. But c'mon, the area around SF is world class nature. Aint no way Texas is competing with a drive down the California coast, into the forests, mountains, or wine country.
-
No way this thread is real. I can't believe there are actual votes for San Antonio over SF.
-
I live in San Francisco, I'm not a weirdo or even super liberal, but I don't need everyone to think the same to feel comfortable.
You can take public transportation to Candlestick.
I can answer questions, but I can't tell you whether NorCalJeff is a real person. Lots of cool places to go here and lots of great food and drink.
San Antonio is a very nice place too. -
living in SA is good, but theres gotta be more active/interesting vacation style things to do in SF.
-
Been to both, grew up in TX. SAN FRAN AINEC
-
Hate the politics hate the sports teams but SF ainec. Food, scenery, touristy stuff to do are all world-class.
