  1. Any suggestions? I went to Donovan's thanks to underdogs recommendation and it was fucking fabulous. Def one of top five steaks I've had. Going to Coronado island and la jolla today. Looking for mexican and Italian. Tytyty
  2. You need an assistant.

Eat some fish tacos down by newport beach imo.

  3. ITALIAN- Bucca di BEPPO in gaslamp district downtown

MEXICAN- El Fandango in Old Town
  4. http://www.reidogado.net/

    This place is amazing.
  5. A definite "second" vote for Fandango. There's a Brazilian steakhouse in the open-air mall downtown which is excellent.

And I think it's worth going down to National City (yeah, it's opposite side of the city from where you are) to a Mexican seafood joint called Mariscos Mazatlan. Everything is ridiculously fresh, portions are huge, and the ceviche is insanely good.

  6. Sheerwater at the Hotel Del Coronado is decent, but it's not Mexican or Italian.

Glad you enjoyed Donovan's. I miss that place so much. Orange County is okay, but San Diego is the fucking nuts.

    El Fandango is very good.

I can't stress how much I disagree with the recommendation of Bucca di Beppo. I hate that place.
  8. If you want mexican you gotta go here especially if you are with your woman.

It's called Las Olas. They have 2 locations and the food is great at both. But go to the location in Cardiff you will not be dissapointed. It is in a ton of those most beautiful restaurant lists. Cardiff is located about 15 min north of La Jolla just fyi.

  9. Maybe if you had your wife from the internet with you, she could help you decide what restaurant to eat at.

    FYP!
  11. The whole Cardiff-by-the-Sea area is just bad ass. Loved it the two times I went up there. There's a place called The Beachhouse which is a bit overpriced from a food perspective, but you can't beat the 2nd-story patio view overlooking the ocean.

  12. Ya the 2 places are right next to each other

have never been to the San Diego location but its not much better than any chain Italian food anywhere
  14. There's a place called 'Panevino' (I think) down in the gaslamp with really good Italian food.

On a side note, there's a place on the 101 up in Encinitas called 'Calypso' that is phenomenal. Very laid back, reasonably priced, and awesome food.

PS- Get your ass to Del Mar before you leave!
  15. check out the strip club in gaslapm. you pay to cook your own food basically, but its kinda fun if you go with a group.

edit: sorry didnt read op wanting italian/mexican.

theres a good italian place in la jolla - cafe milano on pearl st

  16. There is a hole in the wall on Coronado Island called Clayton's take-out. It's not a restaurant, but I still to this day dream about their carna asada buttitos. It's on 10th street between C and Isabella. I'm going back to Coronado next month for a business conference and that burrito is the only thing I can think about.
  17. lol @ Bucca di BEPPO..yuck

  18. I think it was called Coyote something in Old Town. Pretty good place imo.

  22. As a native New Yorker and 3 year resident of Las Vegas, I've eaten the best food in the world. I moved to San Diego 6 months ago and have found some places that are pretty good. I am very picky so hopefully this helps you out. Italian- Cafe Bella in PB or Piatti in La Jolla Mexican- Cafe Coyote in Old Town or La Puerta downtown Others- JRDN at Tower 23 Hotel in PB- Really good funky steak place Suite and Tender in the Se Hotel downtown- best meal i've eaten in San Diego. it's a steak place also Nobu- If you want high end sushi, there's nowhere else to go, in the Hard Rock Harney Sushi- reasonably priced, funky sushi joint with very interesting rolls in Old Town Rama Thai- Best Thai place in downtown SD, hands down
