ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her Wasilla home Friday morning.
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor's Picnic at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks on Saturday, July 25, Palin said.
There was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
Palin made the announcement flanked by Parnell and most, if not all, of her cabinet.
Parnell ran unsuccessfully against Rep. Don Young in the Republican primary last year.
The stunning announcement by Palin opens the floodgates for the 2010 gubernatorial race. Speculation that Palin might not seek re-election had fueled further conjecture of who might run.

My question is who is giving her advice??
IMO she has 0 shot at winning the presidency. The republicans would be basically giving up if they allowed her to emerge as the "face" of the republican party. They should tell her that her role is to help fund raise and try to attract the female voters to the republican party. -

I'd be more than happy if she emerged as the republican front runner in 2012, which it looks like this is step #1 towards that (poor Mitt Romney).
She is the epitome of all the fundamentally wrong ideas the republicans represent and why they have been failing miserably.
She brings nothing new to the table. Its the same old "we're better than you" mentality. This isn't the direction the country wants to move in anymore.
But I wish her the best of luck anyway she looks incredible for her age! -

Sarah Palin getting limited support from feminist groups is just another reason why those groups are a joke and completely biased. If she had a 'D' next to her name, they would of supported her and put up a fight to all those that bashed her.

I hope she does not run because unlike the left(obama), i would rather have someone in office w/ proven political success. A conservative who has historically wanted and voted for smaller government, lower taxes, etc. Few exist anymore and thats why the true fiscal conservative in the republican party are so pissed off right now.
Anyway, people hating on Palin are a joke.
