  1. So my phone dropped and now the bottom half inch of the screen's touch sensors do not work. I'm wondering if there's some better keyboard than the standard US to use, or if once jailbroken there's some sort of app or way to redesign where some buttons are as a default / a different layout in general or sumn? anyone have any idea?
  2. I have an iPhone question also. I borrowed a friends headphones and used them for a day. Then I unplugged them and now my iPhone thinks that headphones are still plugged in. I cant answer any calls or do anything that uses sound unless i have headphones in.
    Any way to fix this?
I already tried resetting my phone and putting everything back to default. Still didnt work.

  3. To holdplz:
Your problem means that your touch sensitizer is broken. It cost about 50 bucks to replace after that you should be fine if the main board didn't get damaged on your phone

    To phareal:
I've heard a trick is to put headphones in and quickly put in and pull out ala Peter North multiple times. Supposedly this can fix the problem. So slam a headphone connector in there and remove several times and let us know.

Blow into the headphone jack as hard as you can or use one of those compressed cans of air. Should do the trick.
  5. Yea no idea on screen but I had headphones and had to clean out Jack prob solved

anyone know how to make my ringer work? Have other audio like iTunes or video, but for some reason it will not ring???
  6. ty english, appreciate that. thought that's probably some sort of solution but had no idea for sure if they were replaceable / price.

i have a 32gig 3gs, but the backlight is burned out as well. i've googled fixing that a bit, seems like i mayyy be able to, may not. im not great with that stuff. i sat in a pool with it for like 4 seconds on 4th of july and turned it on too soon and it burnt out :x so now trying to wait out till my contract is up to get a new one / upgrade, which is not till july. on iphone #7 as it is, things have been expensive so not to replace it yet. but its so incredibly annoying / tilting.

  8. holdplz did u try just going to the nearest apple store??? They usually help you out
  9. I work on Iphones as a a profitable hobby. In terms of the water damaged Iphone 3gs, you probably need a new lcd and touch sensitizer also. That should run about 25-30 for parts and then the install which you can do yourself but can be a little tricky. If it is more than that, water damage usually ruins the battery and charger (usb) port. Sometimes, (cross your fingers) water gets on the board and can ruin the phone as the main board costs close to as much as the phone. (250 bucks)
Here is the deal with the Apple store, they will charge you 200 bucks to fix your phone. Secondly, they have written in their bylaws that if they discover water damage, it is not covered by the warranty. What I can recommend to either person looking to fix their phones is to contact my friend on Ebay who has done over 500 Iphone repairs including over 50 Iphone 4's. If you want it professionally done, I recommend this guy. Here is a link to him on Ebay.
Otherwise, feel free to try to do it yourself if you feel inclined. Good luck.

oh really ? well sorry, there isnt an apple store near where i live. when i was home visitng i went to the mall and to the apple s tore. i had to make an appointment, which is standard and whatever, but there were no appointments for that day. i dont have time to go back to the mall.

if you weren't being sarcastic, sorry for the tone. my detector is currently nonfunctional.

english, tyvm for all the tips/advice.

there was really barely any water damage im pretty sure. i was in a very short amt of time. the backlight wouldve been fine but i turned it on too quickly after the incident- i t was on for a bit, i tried turning the phone off and couldnt, then the light flickered and burnt out and hasnt been on since. the touch thing happened like 2 months later when someone knocked it to the ground.

im pretty sure i have an old 3g somewhere. will i be able to use any of those parts ? been meaning to stick my sim card in there but im pretty sure it stopped turning on at some point

  13. Holdplz,
The answer to your question is no. All of the different iphone models use slightly different parts. As great as it would be to swap an old 3g screen into a 3gs, it is not possible without soldering. The cables that connect to main board of the iphone are different. If there is anything else I can help about with, let me know.

  15. hold,

i'm in nc as well. i do a bunch of work on iphones, macs, and etc. if you're up this way, drop it off and i'll hook you up.

in the meantime, back up your phone and buy the iphone 4. you're probably not due for the upgrade but the early upgrade is $399. after your 3gs is fixed, you'd probably be close to breaking even. i have about 15 phones right now and could possibly just swap yours + cash of the parts for one of those. let me know.
