  1. So this isn't a thread bitching about tipping. I work at an awesome place in Boston. The check averages are awesome and I make good money for me....

I am just curious as people's different opinions on tipping. Some people never leave less than 20 percent no matter what. These are great people to serve obv... Some people never give more than 15 which is fine whateva. Internationals are known to not be aware of the service charge sometimes.

So explain what kind of places you dine at and what your thoughts are on tipping.

As a person who loves to go out and is in the indrusty my tipping amounts vary big time. Sometimes I way over tip and sometimes I won't give that great of a tip. It really depends. I have only stiffed one bartender in my life and it was at a Chili's and she basically told me to go fuck myself when my burger was horrible.
  2. usually about 3.5%

  3. Whatever change is left over. If my check is 75.46 I leave 80 and you get the rest boss.

    %'s are for fools.
  4. Niceguy do you go out with 20 other black people and request to sit together and at the end of the meal say oh btw we want 8 separate checks lmfao.

  5. Damn right, you think I'm gonna let you tack on gratuity like a chump? System gets worked.
  6. At my work separate checks still equals added grat. 8 bodies= grat even if one is an infant.
  7. If it is someone I know, I leave 100 percent. Any other time even if they suck I always leave 20% and round to nearest dollar. I also will never leave more than 20 either though

Now if gratuity is already added I never leave anything extra because it just pisses me off

Your work steals money from hardworking americans? Neat.
  9. I wont say anymore cause I might upset you then you will find me and hurt me...
  10. 20%ish
     2
  11. if i'm dining in. if it's anything take-out, probably a dollar and change
     2

  12. Which discrepancy is higher, the difference between the average rating of girls OT says they bang and the rating of girls OT actually bangs, or the percentage all these super balla OTers claims to tip vs the percentage they actually tip?
  13. 20% and round up to nearest dollar or 0.50 for normal service, then increase or decrease for excellent or terrible service, respectively.
  14. man these threads always piss me off. i never tip unless its a really nice restaurant. I dont tip at mcdonalds, so why the fuck should i tip some asshole working at chili's. you better have a button down and tie and its a great setting to get 10%, otherwise just do your JOB and bring me food

  15. When i went to amercia, They put that gratuity shit on nearly every bill even though there were 3 of us. And my mate acutally tipped them ontop of it gratuity coz he didnt realise that they added the tip in.

we were noobs to start off then realised how it all worked.

my brotha from anotha motha, you know how this shit works. When I tell da bitch at the window to give me a yogurt parfait and an iced coffee you think im dropping a ducket in her pocket for basc grade school skills? Hell naw. We've alowed servers to get way to chesty with their entitlement bullshit and shit needs o get stomped out immediately. Shit, I'm just waiting till it's "oh only 20%, meh, whateva" then "25%? what pricks, fuck them" so i can put zero on the line and show them deuces.

  18. So many levels, so little time.
  19. I always tip 20% I almost never stumble into these threads and always thought it was standard. Guess Im a restaurant fish
  20. any chance this stays civil and doesn't turn into whining /bitching? If service is good I tip about 20% & if it's bad 10% . One thing I have never been concrete about is tipping on alcohol. If I buy $1000 bottle of wine ( I wouldn't ) , I srsly don't think I shd give server $200 for opening the bottle

  21. Does anyone tip delivery drivers?

company taxes a lot of drivers but it is minimal when i tip em. Like $2 on $20 pizza

  24. im with the guy on the odd change from total thing here.

It depends. if im payin cash im not scratchin around for coins to give you exactly 10/20% or whatever.

you better hope i only got 20s and its like £62 or something cos i dont think ive ever waited for change in a restaurant.

always pay tip in cash tho, so if im payin by my card, then its like a £10 up to £100 then £15 or £20... Dont tip taxis, do tip haircuts. tip delivery, never take out. dont really tip bar staff unless i wanna get served quicker later. do offer then a drink sometimes tho. tip pokahs, tip waitresses depending on hotness and speed of drink.

THIS is the correct answer. /thread.....game over
  26. 0. take it up with your boss if you wanna be paid
  27. sorry no tipping
  28. My tipping is service dependent. I'll never go below 17% as a rule, but will go up to 22%. (20% as the average of course)

Note, I have tipped one penny before. And I don't feel bad whatsoever about it. Wasn't busy at all, and it literally took the waiter 45 minutes to take drink orders, another 45 to take our food orders...then we're sitting for 30 minutes after finishing to get the bill. He never brought refills; had to go to the manager to ask for refills for our drinks. THEN I hand him my card, and the fucker just leaves the card sitting on the front desk where anyone could swipe it. 15 minutes later when I don't get my card, I call for the manager again, she finishes everything in like a minute and we're out. If I left no tip, he would just think I was just some guy that forgot to tip. I wanted to show him just how shitty he was, so I wrote .01 on the tip line. And I don't care if I get thrashed ITT for that; I 100% did the right thing. Wasn't even dinner when the place would have been busy...it was lunch and there might have been 3 other people in the whole restaurant.

And if you're wondering why I didn't just leave...it was in college and we ended up studying for finals at the table...so I guess maybe the waiter had like 8th level thinking and knew that he could get me an A in the class for shitty service. If so, well played sir.

  29. Between 15-20%.

I have seen a ton of these threads, but don't recall reading what people tip on a buffet. What do you tip someone who brings and refills your drinks, but you get your own food?
  30. I tip . . . sometimes I am generous, and sometimes I am less so. Any resto that tries to "assist" me by adding the gratuity to the bill is in for some discussion becasuse fuck you, I will fucking decide on how good the service was. Generally speaking I have found that the cheesier the staff, the more likely they are to want to "help" me tip. The best places KNOW their staff is going to get rewarded, or the staff would not be there in the first place.
