My roommate has suffered from depression for quite a while. At times he'll be in bed for a week straight. Here recently though hes been showing up with horrible bruises all over his body. He says they are from playing basketball but he doesnt even play basketball. The other night I got up to get a drink of water and he was sitting in a dark room just staring at the floor. This is about the 3rd time ive seen this behavior. Is this alarming behavior or just normal for someone that suffers with depression? Freaks the heck out of me!

Talk him into getting help asap.
-
is he on any meds?
-
sounds normal to me
-
if op isnt leveling hes a dumbass then.
normal behavior, dont take him to get help. didnt u know everyone in ot does the same thing? -
This reminded me of Paranormal Activity. Run for it

When I was in the ER sunday the nurse asked me "Have you thought of offing yourself lately" I think you should ask your roomie that...

Yea, I'd be seriously worried about your roommate. But I'd be more seriously worried about my own safety. If it's a friend then help them get help...if they are just a roommate tell them you hope they get some help, as you back your moving van out of the driveway on your way to a new apt.

wow thats good to know lame, i thought it was just me. your friend needs someone to talk to let him know you are there for him and you are worried about his behavior.

just in case this isnt a level. -
Um, no this isnt a level. Wish it was. I actually have 2 roommates but the other isnt at home most of the time. Im not really close to either of them-in fact the only time I really talk to them is when rent is due.
-
How well do you know your roommate? Maybe talk to his family or someone close to him that you both know and see whats up/offer help/clue them in, then go from there.
-
this ffs lock your door when you go to bed

you should try to get him help bc u will have to cover his portion of the rent if he kills himself
-
Just walk in and turn on the lights.
"Starin at the floor eh? Can I do it with you?"
Also you should be naked. -
Simple solution is to drop something in his drink to make him pass out then cut off his right arm.
Re-learning how to write and wipe his butt wrong-handed and figuring out how to dress himself will help get his mind off his depression and add some much-needed challenge to his life.
Not to mention if he decides to hack you up with a butcher knife while you sleep some night soon his accuracy will probably be off enough swinging lefty he'll miss most of your vital organs and arteries (hopefully!). -
Involuntary Confinement procedures in your state ... read and see if you can get him to be confined to a mental institution temporarily

at least your roommate isn't racist
-
its sad a normal...
get him moving, exercising,in the sunlight, and vitamins -
You dont want to find him hanging in his room one day.
Talk to him
