Where do you guys stand on this?
Edited By: JPitt09 Dec 28th, 2010 at 08:01 PM
They are in the playoffs, no matter what. If they win, they lock up the #3 seed. If they lose, and the Colts win, they will be the #4 seed.

- I'm not sure where I stand yet. On one hand, I'd love to see them finish up the season strong. Finishing 11-5 would be fantastic for this team. And, they would finish the season unbeaten @ home, possibly carrying some momentum into the playoffs. BUT, a key injury (Cassel, Charles, Bowe, Hali, etc) would significantly hurt their chance of winning a playoff game.Originally Posted by Bill Williamson @ ESPN
Pros
Momentum: The Chiefs would love to finish 11-5, by knocking off a rival, finishing the home season 8-0 and rolling into the playoffs.
New England factor: If the Chiefs are No. 4, they will be poised to play at the top-seed Patriots in the divisional round. If the Chiefs are the No. 3 seed and they win in the first round, they’ll play at the No. 2 seed in the divisional round. That will be at either Pittsburgh or Baltimore. Plus, if things got crazy and the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds both lost in the divisional round, the No. 3 seed would be next up on the pecking order to host a title game.
Rest
A little rest wouldn’t hurt anybody.
Cons
Injury: The Chiefs are pretty healthy right now and they’d love to go into the playoffs at full strength. You’d hate to see a key player get hurt just in the name of fighting for the No. 3 seed. A No. 2 seed and a first-round bye is one thing, but the difference between No. 3 and No. 4 isn’t overly great.

I just wanted to see what OT thinks BEFORE they decide to do whatever they do, instead of playing monday morning QB and saying "lol, how dumb were they to play their starters week 17. -
They should play their starters the entire game...They are still playing for seeding, and they need that 3 seed.
-
Playoffs??(Jim mora voice)
IMO they should play strong and keep the starting unit there -

How much more valuable is the #3 seed than the #4 seed though? I know it'll depend on matchups, and I personally think the Chiefs match up better against the Jets than the Ravens. But we'll almost certainly play one home game, then the rest (if there are any) on the road. It's not as crucial as the difference between the #1 seed and #2 seed. -
I say play the starters, but be very careful. if jamaal charles cramps up or bumps his head, take him out.
I dont like breaking up the continuity of the season. I would also much rather play the jets than the steelers in the first round. -

I would play the starters. It would be really bad to have to go to Indy for the AFC championship game (the one scenario where having the #3 seed is much better than having the #4 seed.) -
gotta play the starters to win, pull early if possible but gotta try to win, this is a team that doesn't yet have a large amount of "knowing how to win" experience like a great colts or pats team that can afford to maybe think resting starters.
-
You have to play your starters. I would much rather play the Jets (who will be be the 6) than I would Baltimore. Plus I think its more important for KC to guarantee staying sharp than it is to worry about injuries. Only guy I might sit some is Charles
-
As a Steelers fan, I'd much rather face the Chiefs than the Colts at home in the divisional round (obv assuming Pittsburgh wins in Cleveland this Sunday). Elite QBs always tend to rape our secondary. With that said, I also think playing the starters is the best option for the Chiefs. If the game gets out of control or if they build a big lead then they can obv start resting their starters, but I'd play to win going into the game if I were Haley.

Bill Williamson is a terrible blogger for this division
Having said that, rest or no rest they will be one and done in the playoffs unless they face the jets and sanchez has one of those 100 passing yard games -
KC is 7-0 at home this year. Arrowhead is a very difficult place to play
-
They beat the Jets in KC. Then I think they lose to Steelers but they make it more competitive than most would think. I'm thinking like a 17-10 Steelers win.
-
Chiefs realistically SHOULD be favorites vs. Jets @ Arrowhead, and will be pretty big dogs to anyone else. Jets aren't for real (barring a run like last years playoffs). Chiefs aren't beating any team on the road most likely, but I guess stranger things have happened. They are playing well on both sides of the ball.
-
Wild-ride who is your team?
There's been a good amount of playoff teams who've lost games at home to shitty teams. Being able to go 7-0 at home is impressive, regardless of schedule. -
much rather play Jets than Ravens or steelers so I'd say the 3 seed is pretty valuable. Also who cares they are going to lose round 1 anyways. Line on chiefs vs Jets will def be less than -3. I could see it as a pick e mor JEts favored, but they don't usually do that unless the home team is lol bad .

lolz, they really should though. I'm not saying the will, but with Jets being far more mediocre than a lot of people think, and the Chiefs home field advantage, I think if the Jets are favored at all it will be a good bet.
If it's Ravens or Steelers, Chiefs will be big dogs obv. -
Wouldn't matter... The Raiders gonna murder them in any way.
-
ya, I should have said i would rather play the jets over the ravens/steelers. i'm more concerned about their first round game than their second round; thats the most important part of the seeding to me.
