I traveled to a few European countries back in 2005 and had some random change left after my trip that I never did anything with. I came across that money today. It's Hungarian forints, Czech koruny, and Euros. I used a currency converter and determined that all together they add up to a little over $14 total.
Should I even bother trying to get this money converted? I think I tried once and the US Bank (in Missouri) told me they charge a fee and have to have it shipped out, counted, and shipped back. I think that's why I've never done it before, wasn't worth the hassle.
Now that I live in Vegas, I would assume getting money converted would be easier, but I honestly have no idea where I could go to do this.
Should I try it? $14 is still $14..... -
I still have money from when I lived in Europe. I chose to keep it because its not that much money plus its a cool souviner. Honestly if they charge a fee I would not even bother.
-
any casino will do it. the fee might be real high though. only done it once and didnt pay attention to the fee really cuse the money is useless anyways.
-
Eh, the souvenir thing doesn't really work for me. I have plenty of pics/memories/CDs of my group's performances to remember my trip....

I guess I should have been more clear, the US Bank in MO charged a fee, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any places in Vegas (other than banks) where I could convert currency. -
Ah. Yeah I have no idea lol
So why did you go to Europe? -
There should be a foreign currency exchange somewhere, unless they don't have them in the States. There are a few in Toronto.

if i might ask,do you have any large size metal money from there? the reason i am asking is i am building a tobacco pipe for my son out of a cow leg bone,an old brass urn and some .357 casings. while i don't expect most of OT to appreciate all the pieces to build an awesome pipe, i DO know we are an eclectic bunch!! so just askin'.

Keep it to remember your trip.

Not sure what qualifies as "large size metal money" I have coins, but none are much larger than a U.S. half dollar coin.

I havent exchanged foreign money for a long time but the last time i did i remember getting significantly less for coinage than i did for bills. like just a small percent of its actual worth.

Thats pretty awesome. I love the pics, the one that has Crystal is really cute lol
My step dad is in the military so I lived in Germany for 3 years, and we vacationed in France and Italy. It was a blast.
I get so happy when I hear people have had the chance to go because its so fun and an awesome experience.
Oh and now I know you can sing :) -
We were in Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Austria. I would love to go back, esp to Prague and Vienna.

B. Seriously those pics mad eout house seem way more cluttered than it is, the bookshelf is ridiculuos but its the only shelving in the house so if we had a house it would not be so bad but I have to cram everything in one area.

If Dolph doesnt take them I will. I have a bunch of coins from diff countries for my kiddos. Let me know.

I don't know how crafty you are, but maybe you could make some sort of framed collage of the different forms of currency to show other people the many places you've been.
I think that'd make for a pretty sweet conversation piece when people come over. Seems like a much better use than all that hassle for roughly $14 and could be something that you end up cherishing.
