  1. I have always enjoyed watching the World Cup over the years. This year, those fucking horns are making it extremely annoying to tune in.

I can only imagine how annoying they would be live in the stands at the games.

    Ban them imo.
  2. Meh, I think this is dependent on the person. I think those who it annoys are very vocal about it but the rest just don't say anything positive or negative. For me, they just seem to become background noise and I don't really notice them, so they don't bother me at all.
  3. I've definitely noticed less vuvuzelas during the broadcasts this week. I think ESPN has found a way to diminish the audience noise.

  4. yeah, i really hated them at first. i still don't like them, but they are tolerable now. it's part of the south african culture so i'd say let em stay there. if they show up in any other countries in the future tho, the people with them should be shot on sight.
  5. Negative.
  6. They should as its causing Broadcasters and players on the pitch trouble with communication. That and the fact they are fucking annoying
  7. They are filtering out the sound to some degree. It blows.
  8. I wish they filtered out the noise in the games I have been watching.. Luckily (or unlucky) the broadcasts here are in Lithuanian which I don't fully understand what they are saying anyway, so I just mute the match and put on some tunes..
  9. i actually like these. i didnt realize till the WC that the vuvuzelas were african culture i thought it was just soccer culture to use them.
  10. For some reason they make me sleepy. Maybe it's the constant white-noise, but everytime I start watching a game I find myself nodding off. And no, it's not the game that's doing that...
  11. yes

  12. if SA doesnt want them banned fuck no they shouldnt.

    ban them in america tho
  13. the reason why i am not watchin all the games, might have to see how much they blocked it out,i mean i can handle alot of the horn blowin butt non stop cmon now

Ding Ding Ding ^ This. My buddy works for ESPN and said at the start of the world cup games ESPN had mics set up all over the stadium, which was picking up the horns. Not sure if they did it, but he said they would be able to alter the audio so the horns were not so loud to people watching at home.

Either way I think the horns are out of control, If I was at the game I would feel like I was having Chinese torture done to me. I can understand if you want to blow the horns when a goal is scored or a bad call, but ffs non stop for the entire game is not necessary.
  15. The only thing more annoying than vuvuzelas is the whining about the vuvuzelas. The extra attention drawn to it by the incessant whining makes it 10x worse.
  16. i think they should ban them

also, kick out people in american football games who are being too loud while the away team is on offense. they can hardly hear the quarterback sometimes!

  17. When you award the World Cup to a country, you open yourselves to their culture. I personally dislike them, but they're a part of South African tradition, so if they want them then by all means keep them. I think its generally bad for the game, I know of a few people that wont watch the games because of the annoying sound.

  18. Yeah, obv they are a tradition in SA so I wouldn't expect a ban there. This was more directed at future world cup events.

These things wouldn't be so bad if they actually played a tune or a melody.

But that constant monotone !HONK! is reallly irritating.

  19. Is Soccer a game that needs sound to watch?

I just lower the volume, same game experience.
  20. those horns are the fucking worst, not sure how anyone can stand going to a game with that crap...

  21. I recently found out that the repetitive annoying noise in the stadiums isn't vuvuzelas. It's actually the collective sound of 75,000 African stomachs rumbling.
  22. i really dont even notice them, and they dont bug me at all....therefore, no dont ban them, its a part of their culture
  23. GOAL! lol at me rooting for North Korea take me out back and put a bullet in my head plz

  25. any professional football(soccer) game has noise makers for the full 90 minutes. it happens the south africans enjoy their horns. its their world cup and we shouldnt make them stop it because we don't like it. get over it. for me, i tune them out fairly quick and they don't bother me. everyone complaining must be focusing on them.
  26. FUCK YES! Ban hammer.

    singing ftw.

Generally, there are maybe a few people in a crowd of thousands who bring these items, as opposed to what seems like 30 to 40K of these honking vagezilla things.

Also, usually noise makers are only used at strategic times to distract the opponent.... not incessantly from start to end.
