  2. GSP has to beat Jake Shields first
  3. If GSP handles his next Fight ( which he will ) Dana white said he is going to have to make this happen , its long overdue anyways
  4. THIS WILL BE AWSOME!!!!
  5. Silva -185 is the nuts

  6. I'm no professional sports bettor, but I think I would be happy with Silva -185 as well.

  7. I think GSP finds a way to win. I won't take him at +155 though.

  8. Would be an unreal fight to watch. I think GSP's wrestling gets him the win tho.
  9. U are high bro

My only concern is that he walks around at like 40 lbs less than Silva. Silva walks around at like 225. Doesn't GSP walk around at like 185? I mean, GSP is legit for sure, and Silva doesn't have great take-down defense, but that is a pretty significant size difference.

GSP also uses his standup to set up shots, and I think this would be like the first time in his career that the other fighter would have the edge standing.
  11. ^ yea that's a pretty legit point. I'm not too fond of either, to be honest. Don't really care who would win, but it would be hella entertaining. In a couple of years it's just gonna be Jon Jones' world anyway tho. Might not even take that long.
  12. size aint everything. if chael sonnen and rag doll silva around the ring, im pretty sure st pierre could too. im not saying gsp will win, i just think he'll be able to come up with a gameplan that will make the fight tough for silva
  13. St. Pierre has a chance...that chance is if Greg Jackson goes Tanya Harding on Silva before the fight. And people need to quit using the Sonnen fight as an example...Silva was fighting with a broken rib. That played a major factor in that fight in which Silva still won.
  14. i love gsp but dont think he's got a chance against silva.

  15. 1 kick to the face ftw

  17. I agree with Silva's size and striking being too much for GSP. That said I can't wait to see that fight! Shields is no slouch though. Any chance Shields outpoints him on the ground like he seems to have done in previous fights I have seen? I've been watching MMA for awhile but I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as some of you guys on the subject.

I also had no idea Silva had a broken rib during the Chael Sonnen fight. He def. got dominated. I heard there was some drama with Chael's drug test? Did it ever get over turned? How long is he suspended? If he was juiced up I can certainly see why he seemed too strong for Silva.

  18. If Silva is a dog, I may have to bet on this fight.
  19. I had just asked someone if this fight would ever happen and they said no because of the difference in weight class. Would be sick to see

Silva is -185 which means you have to bet 185 to win 100. So he is the favorite. No way he would ever be the dog if they fought. I know that much.
  21. Betting on GSP @ +155 is throwing away money. Only way I would take him is at +250 or more and even them it's such a long shot for him to win I still wouldn't bet. I like GSP a lot, but people that think he can actually win this fight are crazy.

Can't wait to see Jon Jones/Shogun vs Anderson Silva though (please make that fight happen!)
  22. When GSP beats Shields he will no longer be a welterweight. He is moving up to middleweight to fight Silva and he has already said once he moves up he isnt going back down to 170. He will bulk up and transform himself into a 185er so the size difference wont be to huge. This process may push the fight back til early next year depending on how much time he needs to get bigger.

Im never picking against Silva til someone knocks off again, but I think GSP has a chance. He can follow the Sonnen blueprint and probably do it even better than Chael did.

Dont think you'll ever see those fights, in a recent interview Dana said Silva's made it clear to him that he has no desire to fight at 205. Sucks cuz if he beats GSP thats where I want to see him.
  23. Except he won't be on roids and no matter how much weight he puts on he won't grow longer limbs or gain any height...

Even if he gets Anderson on the ground he's gonna have to deal with a legitimate guard. For Anderson to train for this fight he would need to bring in some top wrestlers. Who would GSP get to simulate Anderson's style?
  24. Jon Jones can probably do a decent job of mimicking Silva imo

He won't be able to take down GSP so I don't think he'll have the opportunity. I think the fight will look similar to GSP-Koscheck, but GSP getting some takedowns later in the rounds. SHields is a very good fighter, but I don't think he has any chance in this fight. It's just a terrible match up for him, though GSP is a terrible match up for anyone.

Sonnen is a better wrestler than GSP. On skill they're probably even, but Sonnen has at least 20 lbs on him. What bodes well for GSP is that SIlva's striking slipped a bit as he seemed to be focused on stopping the takedown. GSP is a much better striker than Sonnen and has a 2 inch reach advantage on him as well. If the fight happens now, I think Silva is too much. If GSP is able to add 10 lbs without losing any quickness I think he will take it or at least make it very competitive. GSP is the perfect fighter for the UFC with the cage and the rules favoring wrestlers.

That is a shit ton of size difference you are talking about dude. And please please please don't use Chael as an example. Dude is a legit wrestler that wasn't outweighed by 40 lbs. I'm not saying GSP doesn't have a shot, because I think he does, just not a great one.
  28. Have no idea why Sheilds is getting a shot after his last shitty performance. I mean the guy barely squeaked out a win in his only UFC fight and then gets a shot at GSP? Sure we dominated SF but then again I thought Dana didn't respect SF. I still think Sheilds needs at least one more fight before seeing GSP.

I also don't like the fight. I mean if GSP loses it is going be because Silva is simply bigger imo. I mean, when you get two super elite fighters like these tow it is going to come down to some variable and I simply don't see GSP dealing with Andersons natural size advantage.

I don't like this fight at all, mostly because I really don't want to see GSP lose tbh.

Oh and if there ever was a time for a re-match it is Silva Sonnen. Sonnen DESTROYED Silva. I mean it was not close, Anderson was getting his ass beat and got lazy and armbarred in the last seconds of the match. I would much rather watch Chael kick Silvas ass (again) than see GSP/Silva.
  29. I'm pretty surprised at how many people bring up the size issue. If you haven't learned that the size of the dog in the fight means dick by now in MMA than you are not watching enough of it.

Silva is a tremendous talent but if you look at who has been fighting (and in what division) the last few years it's not that impressive. Yes there are some big names under his belt but all of those names are from guys who are far past their prime. GSP has been fighting legit contenders and dominating them. Not to mention GSP is the best game planner in the business.

MMA is the best example of "anything can happen". All of you saying the GSP has no chance simply do not know what you are talking about. GSP can beat Silva.

Let me put this in words I hope you can understand.

Silva wont drop to GSP, wants GSP to come up weight

    GSP gaining weight = slower.

Slower + Silvas evasion = No chance to win

GSP is by far the most aggressive and fastest takedown artist with his unmatched agility and technique. If Dana doesnt make them both go +20 -20 pounds to meet 1/2 way this fight will seriously go down in history as the most disputed fight over weight class differential regardless of the victor

GSP trains with the Canadian wrestling team and might even compete in the 2012 olympics
