Two months ago George Bush addressed the troops and said:
"I must say, I'm a little envious," Bush said. "If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed."
"It must be exciting for you ... in some ways romantic, in some ways, you know, confronting danger. You're really making history, and thanks," Bush said.
But in his new campaign ad, John McCain says:
"Only a fool or a fraud talks tough or romantically about war. ... I was shot down over Vietnam and spent five years as a POW. ... I hate war. And I know how terrible its costs are. I'm running for president to keep the country I love safe. I'm John McCain, and I approve this message."
Using these two facts, does John McCain think:
a) George Bush is a fraud
b) George Bush is a fool
c) George Bush is both
d) Something else. Explain: ______________________________ -
why does it matter what McCain thinks of Bush?
and are you just always so bored that you try to stir the pot? or are you just this much of a broken record and have nothing else to talk about? -
YAY!!!! another political thread!!!!!!!
-
I took my son to see Kung Fu Panda on Saturday. He loved it.
-
If we're not allowed to equate the ridiculous ramblings of Rev Wright to Obama... your not allowed to do the same thing for the mediocre ramblings of Bush to McCain.
-
Fair enough.
-
r u really trying to hijack your own thread?
-
I think McCain is just saying what he thinks people want to hear and at the same time making a brag post about being a POW in Vietnam.
-
I was responding to Waco.
-
they're both right imo.
-
Or maybe they have a different perspective because of different experience and background.
Or maybe the statements are not that inconsistent.
Or maybe they just say what they think is approporiate for poeple to like them or vote for them.
Your test is rigged. -
No, silly. I didn't ask "which one is correct?" I asked from these statements, what does McCain think of Bush? How is that rigged?
-
obv pandering to the llamacrats
-
go ahead, THROW your vote away...
-
Everything online is rigged.

Really, I hate this logic. I think half of the political problems we have is that we are based in a 2 party system. Guess what happens in real life, large companies give money to both sides, so they helped pay whoever got it.
I think it would be great if we had 10 legitimate contenders to be President. Then, we could have honest debates. People could win that aren't bought and sold by all of the special interests (I believe everybody is owned by someone that is Republican or Democrate).
I have to be honest, the more I'm reading on McCain, the less thrilled I am with him as a candidate. Yet, I like him more than Obama or Hilary. I may take this as my first year to go out and vote 3rd party.
If enough people did it, then it would get up to legitimate numbers, and that would end the sentiment that many people hold (like the quote above).
Back on topic
Deep down, I think McCain thinks Bush is a fool. I think it turns his stomach to know that he could have been President during this time instead of Bush. That being said, he really can't come out and throw Bush under the bus. For all his faults, Bush is a master campaigner, and McCain will need that help/support if he's going to win this November, and he knows it. -
don't blame me, I voted for Kodos!
and while I appreciate your sentiments on 3rd parties, I feel it is more constructive to try and push the party you agree most with in the direction you would like. I agree with a lot of libertarian views, but I don't see the point in sitting back and hoping that you someday get enough votes to convince the big boys to come find you and plead for your vote. not gonna happen. better to try and affect the people in power -
woooooooooo woooooooo wo wo wo woooooooo... even though that is not my batman cup Underdog has produced another koolaid drinking human?! you got a kid?!

"That being said, he really can't come out and throw Bush under the bus. For all his faults, Bush is a master campaigner, and McCain will need that help/support if he's going to win this November, and he knows it."
I don't think this is true. At this point, Bush can only hurt McCain's appeal to moderates. Anyone who supports Bush is obv gonna vote for McCain already so why would mcCain need/want Bush's support?
McCain is in a tough spot when it comes to his relationship with Bush. He will obv use Bush at republican fundraisers but has to maintain his distance from W while campaigning to those in the middle who aren't big fans our current admin. -
The answer is obvious: George Bush is the president and is lying to justify an unjust war he started. John McCain wants to be president and is lying to get votes.
-
loooooooooooool
-
how did bush get the dems to lie? and how'd he get france and germany to lie? weren't they against the war?
-
A lot of democrats were against the war, like this one guy named Obama, but after 9/11 and us still thinking we could trust our government, Bush could have said Switzerland wanted to bomb us and everyone would have fallen in line. They exploited our fears, plain and simple
-
oh, france and germany were swept up in patriotic fever and...wait, what?

It was a widley held international veiw that Sadamn did have weapons. It was not a widely held international veiw that he was an imminent threat to the United States.
