So in the past month my ability to sleep has gone to shit. It started with me rolling around in bed for an hour before I fell asleep and has progressivly gotten worse.
In the last week its reached the point where on monday night i layed in bed for 6 hours trying to fall asleep before i gave up and got out of bed. I get decent sleep that night since i hadnt slept in so long, but now again tonight i tried to sleep, got to bed at 1 but i couldnt sleep and now im back here.
Wtf's wrong with me is there anyway to fix it without sleeping meds id like to try and avoid them if i can. -
doomed
-
My sleep is getting worse. I use to go to sleep at 1 and get up at 6. Over the last few months it has progressed to laying down by 1-2 and NOT falling asleep until 3-4 and still getting up at 6. I refuse to take meds of any type for it.
-
That sucks bro...maybe it's something psychological? Sometimes when I can't sleep it's because I start thinking about stuff. Future stuff, past stuff just stuff that keeps my head thinking and awake.
-
thinking is def my problem when falling asleep. i can think away an hour with no problem. then i just somehow force myself to stop, scare myself asleep or whatnot, and ill finally just relax and dooze away..... . most issues are meaningless, but damn it sucks when u are just focused and thinking and your mind wont let u relax!
-
Thats pretty much it.

Sleep is overated...I only sleep 3 to 4 hours everyday and my body functions normally
-
I think about random shit alot at night to but i cant make it stop usually i just end up dozing off and falling asleep, but that doesnt even happen anymore
-
I used to have sleeping problems, then I started taking some Ambien...
-
yea this thread i agree w 100%, my sleep pattern has been so messed up recently, i guess its cause im always up playing cards at night and dont end up getting to sleep around 4-5 in the morning, sometimes worse, and ive even stopped playing so late but i still cant manage to fall asleep, ill just put on a movie and roll around for awhile...
long story short if any1 does have any reccomendations let me know
edit: obv theres a reason im up at 8 typing this, cause i havent been able to fall asleep lol -
i suggest you start smoking pot and drinking hot, decaf tea before sleep. works like a charm.
-
Exercise a few hours before bed.
-
You should create an alternate ego inside your brain that will flip on like a switch at night and while your dayself will think he's "asleep," your nightself will be out doing some crazy cool shit that will come back to amaze/haunt you later when you figure it all out.
We shall name your alternate persona "Tyler Durden." -
I have had this same problem since I was 16 years old. Sleeping pills work but can cause unhealthy side effects. Good for that "I have to sleep tonight" nights.
Long term exercise 3 hours before bed time. (people say 2 hours, but does that mean finish at 2 hours or start? I moved to 3 hours)
You can also add something like this:
http://www.brookstone.com/store/prod...ct_code=589796
What this does is block out background sounds. Wind, house settling, little noises that keep you awake are hidden behind the rythmic sound of the machine.
That's about all I can give you. If you find a solution let me know, boy do I need it. -
I used to need alcohol to go to sleep then my health was deteriorating (sp), once I stopped drinking I could not sleep at all either, due to my mind thinking about LIFE.
Then my gf told me to take Melatonin. Its all natural and not habit forming. I spoke to my doc about it and he agreed.
It works for me. Its cheap and again..all natural.
Sandman_Good. (literally) -
I used to take this as well but it fucked me up the next morning. My problem with sleeping was always I couldnt shut my mind off at night. Doctor took me off of Ambien and put me on Prozac. Sleep like a baby with no hang over the next day.

Make sure you cut out all caffine and maybe exercise a hour or so before bed? -
Melatonin works well. Or 10 shots of whiskey
-
marijuana anyone?
swag def puts u to sleep -
there was just a really big full moon lately and i have heard this effects people's sleep patterns alot.
also caffeine should really be stopped at like 3-4pm.
i have def had times where my mind races and can't get to sleep for the life of me. (so crazy that a doctor would prescribe a drug to treat this since based on replies it seems kinda normal)
i would just try to get a relaxing nite time pattern going. maybe drink some tea, listen to some music and read or watch a movie. my parents also used to give us warm milk. -
I do the same thing, stuck thinking about crap for hours, next thing u know its 4 am or something
prob could take something for it, but i dont take meds for pretty much anything, let alone to fall asleep
reading usually helps me -
Only problem with melatonin is that it gives lots of people very, very vivid dreams. Pretty crazy actually. I started taking that sleepmd crap a month or so ago, and melatonin is the main ingredient in that. I had taken straight melatonin before, but I'm liking the sleepmd more. It keeps me asleep, unlike things like tylenol pm etc that just put you to sleep.

Alcohol and/or Weed should do the trick.

Keep the book The Histories by Hertodus next to your bed. Read until drowsy.
