1. In the past I've always bought beaters, in so much that the car itself usually shit the bed before the tires needed replacing. Now that I have a vehicle I'm making payments on, I find myself in the rare spot of needing new tires.

Whats the best way to do it? I'll give some options to get things going...

    1. Go into local shop (tire warehouse, VIP auto, PepBoys) and haggle over price?

    2. Order tires online from major warehouse and bring them in to get installed/balanced

    3. Order from a dealership

    4. Order from a tire manufacturer such as firestone/Goodyear?

FTR i'm just looking for decent all season tires, not lopro/racing/specialty tires
  2. Go to Les Schwab. I dont know if they have a store where you are but they warranty everything 100%, do free maintenance for leaks, rotation, and will swap them for free if you have to put snow tires back on or something. Not to mention they are always fast and do good work.

  3. Dude you live in New England. Just go to Sullivan. They do a good job and prices are pretty competitive.

  5. Try tirerack.com, they have tons of tires and I think are relatively cheap compared to the market, but compare to be sure
  6. Barter with animal skins and handcrafted jewelry. Much better than using paper currency immfo.
  7. Sears
  8. this thread was looking to be helpful, but now i'm getting confused. Sears accepts animal skins? prghipadfjoaijspefhafhg;ahspfp;

  9. If your a little bit handy and don't mind getting a little dirty a trip to the junk yard might be in order. Maybe find yourself some good snow tires on the cheap if you remove them yourself.

2nd vote for tirerack. Used them a couple of times, never a problem.
  11. Tire Rack.com is top notch.

I also recently used tires easy.com for winter tires and they were equally good.

Both have fair shipping prices. Both have good customer service. Both have great prices.
  12. Here's what you do. I swear it works so well, i've had people ask me to shop for their tires:

Put on a low cut blouse, enough to reveal cleavage, but not enough to look slutty. Go in, act dumb. Then when tehy tell you the price, sigh. This will accentuate the breasts.

Then talk about how you'll have to make do, you can't afford them because you're trying to put a kid through college. Of course, add in that you had no idea tires were so expensive, that your ex always used to do that sort of thing..

Be prepared to walk out. They will stop you before you leave the driveway. Cost of new tires for Jeep? $198 installed, free lifetime rotation and warranties.
  13. works everytime
  14. If you are not hot and busty I would go to costco.
  15. hey, im neither and it works for me.

ROFL!! So true. SO very very true!
  17. be careful...

our news channel was running somthing about alot of places selling bad tires right now...

there was somthing to do with the 4 digit code on the tires that can tell you if they are good or not...

cant find a link to it anywhere tho

  18. There is a code on the tire that indicates the maufacturing date. If tires are too old there is fear that the tread could degrade and become unsafe. Do some research before you go and check out the code for yourself. It is usually on the sidewall that faces the engine so it is very difficult to read once the tires are installed.
