...and see a flashing light coming from our living room...i look in, and the candle sitting on the computer desk has burst into flames...like, not normal candle flames
since i'm a life donk and don't know wtf to do (other than to not dump water on it...), i run and wake up my parents (i go to school 20 mins from home, stfu)
my dad freaks out, and my mom runs into the kitchen...my dad comes into the living room with a pot ready to smother it, but before he can do that my mom runs by us with a full glass of water and dumps it on the candle.......
so naturally even more flames shoot out and torch the top shelf of our computer desk...luckily the fire didnt engluf anything else and my dad and i (but mostly dad) was able to contain it
cliff nots:
candle on fire, mom dumped water on it, even more fire -
well played mother, wp.

wp sir, I won't knock you for still being at home...

I must be a life donk, but why isn't water a good idea? I know why you don't throw water on a grease fire, but don't understand why it wouldn't work with a candle?
-
with candles, the wax is all puddled up at the bottom so it splattlers all over into the open flame and makes it bigger, sort of like grease
-
That makes sense...I would have been the smart one dumping a ton of water on it...

I got one of those 2 pack fire extinguishers from Home Depot. They were only like $10, but I figured thats cheap if it saves my home. I suggest getting one.
-
FTR you can use water.....
Just dont throw it on the fire...apply gradually.
Easier said than done when you are facing a raging candle fire I know lol -
