so they got brian kelly? announcement friday?
-
we surely dont talk about sports on this fourm...wtf is ND?
-
thats what im reading...theyre looking like they wanna have a presser friday, but cinci's baquet is thursday, and theres some really bad weather in that area.
I hope this gets finalized, this will be a huge pickup for ND. If charlie did any one thing exceptionally well, it was recruit. There is so much gd talent on this team, and Brian Kelly is an absolute stud at coaching up talent. His resume is eerily similiar to Meyer's in 2004, and the guy has been a winner everywhere he's gone. -
One thing I find kinda funny is if he does become the coach at ND he will leave before his bowl game. That's good for him because when they get stomped by 28 points he has the "Well I didnt coach in the bowl game" out. As a ND homer I think he is the right guy for the job and I hope he does well but ND really needs to start letting in the prop 48 players like they did when Holtz was coach.

its not about the classes, its the admittance standards.

They get no JC kids, no kids that are have special ed status, no kids that do shitty on their SATS or cake walk their HS sched.
The SEC soaks those kids up -
Because it seemed like all of the kids they let in that were prop 48 got into trouble in some way or another. A few of the kids got caught taking money from a booster back when Holtz was coach and ND got into a little bit of trouble over it. That was the big reason why Holtz left. I remember they got Randy Moss in on prop 48 and then found out some ND booster had paid to have his admission letter written for him and the revoked his scholarship. I know what was in the papers was that it was because of some fight he had in high school but this was the word around South Bend at the time.

lolll what??? is this directed at the claussen tate comment? if you think the 2 best players leaving will have zero impact on the overall talent of the team...thennn my deepest apologies sir but, sho wrong.

"I love Notre Dame and respect their football legacy, but no matter what you've accomplished before coaching there, once you're a Golden Domer, the expectations, frankly, are unrealistic," said Christ, whose family has been involved with the university since its founding. "I've had people turn on Me before, and it really put Me through hell. But even more importantly, I've made a commitment to stay with the Blue Raiders through 2015." Moss had his scholarship pulled because of assault charges resulting from a fight he had in high school. That's when Holtz told him to look up his buddy Bobby Bowden. Before he got kicked out of FSU (lol).

When Holtz was at ND, they didn't have a ton of prop 48 players, but the ones they did have (Tony Rice, Rocket Ismail, Chris Zorich) were the x-factors. It's funny to think that if Rocket was a high school senior today, he would have no shot at getting into ND. -
No, its you blindly stating that ND will be mediocore at best. How the fuck do you know what kind of turnaround this team is going to have? You act as if we dont have junior Crist coming in as a 5 star southern cali qb, who is a perfect fit for kellys offense and is much more mobile than clausen even with a torn acl. You act as if we won't have Floyd, who will absolutely be playing in the NFL and will be one of the top receivers in the country next year, flourishing in Kelly's offense. Our Defense cant get any worse, even though talent is there. Kelly has fielded a top25 D every year at cinci, including after losing TEN starters last season. ND is loaded at skill positions WR and RB.
Of course Clausen and Tate leaving is going to affect the team, but you ignorantly assume that ND doesn't have a plethura of depth and talent with a coach who throughout his career has consistently coached up teams with a lack of talent. -
before this turns into an e-wrastle... let me make it clear that i am a huge ND fan, i actually would love to see them end the year with a strong bowl game, much more bcs obv...

and yes, obv floyd is a beast if he can stay healthy for two weeks in a row, yes armando allen will be returning. but depth?? really? where did u see that this year?? O-line men were changing around because of the mere fact there IS NO DEPTH..dbs were constantly being rotated as well
crist is total unknown lol at you attributing age alone to quality of a qb. i think he has like 3 snaps of experience, and 1 pass attempt(on sideline warming up). obv crist will determine how much floyd really has an impact too.
basically, i dont see them cracking the top 25 in the next 2 years, and if they do, not stayin ranked for more than a few weeks. sad tho, again...im irish...im a fan. cool the jets turbo

National Champion 2009 run went well -
Floyd's health is definitely a concern. Its no reason though to discount the amount of impact he can have on a season though. AA is solid but Im actually more amped on Jonas Gray in the backfield.
I saw depth all over the field this year. From running back to WR to linebackers and DB's. I would say we are lacking depth mostly on our O and D line, with Dline being thinner. However it is not the monstrosity you make it out to be.
DBs were constantly being moved around because they werent nearly playing to their potential, and I dont know what youre talking about with Oline. We were hardly moving them around, I was very impressed with what Verducci did with our line and I hope he is retained in the next coaching staff.
I am high on Crist because many people are high on Crist, with some wondering if Crist would actually surpass clausen this season on the depth chart, which obviously did not happen. He has a stronger arm than Clausen but less accurate (as is nearly all of CFB, but 18 TD's/1 INT his senior year), and is much more mobile.
You talk down on age, but it is a HUGE factor. Having a Jr. 5 star coming in to start and a freshman 5 star is a HUGE difference. Two years in a system and weight program. Granted that system is changing, but Kellys isnt too dissimilar to Weis's in that he loves to throw and rarely runs.
Its obvious that its not easy to replace a top projected QB, but with 3 years for Crist to play in Kelly's offense, I see a HUGE potential here. -
fuck yeah we do. I don't buy a ticket to watch these kids take the SATs

jc obv doesn't want to give up cursing.

Jim Harbaugh
Chris Peterson
I would have liked to have either of those two before Kelly. He just seems like a flavor of the month kind of guy. Peterson has proven he can do it over a longer period of time. Harbaugh showed he can get players at school with high academic standards. I see Kelly as not that much different from Weiss. He will be good on offense and mediocre at defense. Their basically replacing Weiss with a slightly better version of himself. I hope for the best but I would have liked to see them go in a different direction -
btw Kelly is overrated, the big east sucks donkey balls
whoever said Harbaugh is correct
