On way back to Florida from Vegas got pulled over with 3 joints in Oklahoma, they brought me in put me in jail for like an hour b4 they let me post bond or whatever, gotta go to the courthouse 1st thing in the morning for it, the cop said i could plead guilty and "probably" only get a fine but could face jail time ( no way in hell iwanna go back to jail for even 1 minute after today) or i could plead non guilty or no contest and get a lawyer and come back on a later date. Its the 1st time i ever got caught or in any trouble for anything. Just wondering if this has happened to any1 else in oklahoma and what happened to them? or if anyone has any suggestions on what i should do 2moro in court?
-
I think for a first offense you get 1-3 months in jail with rape guaranteed.
-
Have you thought of simply telling them that you are the 3rd best internet poker player in the world? Pretty sure that would get you off scott free.
-
i take my chances in court in the morning. but instead of "driving back from vegas," i would probably be "driving back from visiting my sick grandma."
-
don't plead guilty unless it's with an explicit agreement from the prosecuting attorney as to what the fine or sentence will be. If they won't tell you and say you have to plead guilty then just see what the judge says (like if you're in a po-dunk town, which you most likely are) then you probably want to plead not guilty and get an attorney.
-
So have you talked to an attorney? Any attorney?
-
just plead guilty and pay a fine. they wont put you in jail. guarantee cop was juts trying to scare you.

they dont wanna put you in jail. they want money -
nah i just got outta jail like an hour ago...and court is at 8am
are you positive? ill fuckin be daaaaaizey as fuck if i plead guilty and they say 6 months or something -
100% talk to a damn lawyer
and that for 3 fuckin joints?? joke. -
What part of oklahoma was it?
-
did you hand over the js right away or did they find them while searching? id say you'd get off quick and easy if you were coorapative with the cop.
-
I duno, that's what I thought about speeding tickets.. I was driving through Viriginia, and my friend got pulled over for doing 80+, signed the ticket thing with the cop on the road. Basically, he didn't realize he signed that he was "wrecklessly driving" as opposed to just speeding or whatever the normal offense is. So now he is facing a $2500 fine, and I think a misdemenar.

Don't plead guilty without knowing exactly what you're pleading guilty to and what the penalty is. -
Krispy, I do not understand. Do you think that signing a ticket is pleading guilty?
-
No i think he means that if he is going to plead guilty, know all the charges before pleading
-
goto nearest casino rape the cash games + meet lawyer = profit

That really sucks man, Oklahoma is strict as fuck when it comes to drugs of any kind, right in the middle of the Bible belt and Republicanville.
Since it's your first offense I would just be completely up front about everything and plead guilty, I really doubt you'll get any jail time for three Js.
GL bro -
so i doubt ill be able to get attorney before 2moro becuase court is at 830am i plan on going to the DA's office in the courthouse before the hearing or whatever i plan talking to him trying to work out a deal to pay a fine and be over it, if that doesnt work i was thinking plead no contest and tell them I need a lawyor to continue? does that sound like the best way to go about it?
-
if you cant get a lawyer talk to the DA like you said...i think if you plead no guilty thatll push it back to a different trial then your lawyer will take care of it
-
yes, the DA will probably offer you jail time, then you say no chance.... make it a reasonable fine (with probation if necessary), or else you're pleading not guilty and getting an attorney.

I think the best thing you can do right now, is go smoke a joint. Worry about that shit in the AM.
-
I don't think you will have to sign anything for something this minor, more than likely you guys will verbal agree to a deal and then the DA will make the judge aware of the deal before you plead. The judge should ask you if you 'understand that pleading guilty will mean you pay a fine of xxxxxx and serve no jail time' as well I would think. Obv I don't know OK and obv don't plead guilty if it means jail time

Just talked to my gf. Her dad is an attorney in Tulsa. She said you could get off with doing no jail time, would have to do community service, or take a drug class. She alsi said because your out of state they will try and screw you as much as possible. What was the reason you got pulled over? Because if they wrong fully searched the car all the charges can get thrown out.

Just took this from a website.
"For example, most Californians charged with violating the state's pot possession laws face little more than a small fine. By contrast, getting busted with a pinch of weed in Ohio will cost you your driver's license for at least six months. Move to Texas -- well, now you're looking at a criminal record and up to 180 days in jail. Or if you happen to be a first-time offender, possibly a stint in court-mandated 'drug rehab' (one recent study reported that nearly 70 percent of all adults referred to Texas drug treatment programs for weed were referred by the courts), probation, and a hefty legal bill. And don't even think about getting busted in Oklahoma, where a first time conviction for minor pot possession can net you up to one year in jail, or up to ten years if you're found guilty of a second offense. Thinking of growing your own? That'll cost you a $20,000 fine, and -- oh yeah -- anywhere from two years to life in prison.
Yes, you read that right -- life in prison." -
I dont think they wrongfully searched i fucked up he saw me moving em and he came up to car and told me to get out put me in cuffs and asked me where the weed was and i told him like a idiot so i think he had the right to search the car not positive tho.
