i might look into paying a computer technician to come over and install the best virus softwares and do a sweep etc if a service like that is out there seems likely. make sure he/she knows how to find and get rid of keyloggers
-
Disconnect from the net via anti-virus switch or just pull/disable the connection.
Back up any documents or files you wish to keep. Make sure you check through thoroughly as it'll be gone for good after the next step. You could copy you entire hard drive to an external drive and sort through it later.
Format your hard drive.
Re install all of your programs/applications etc.. This is an absolute pain in the ass but I have solution for next time (if there ever is a next time).
Take an "image" of your machine. This is basically a copy of everything on your computer. By taking an image you can re install the image without having to re format as when you load it, it's all done in one process.
Oh and stop clicking links sent to you in IM's
GLGL
P.S don't do this if you don't have your driver disks etc... -
i got a email from my brother with some ray ban ad in it last night. Have no idea why anyone would ever be dumb enough to click an advertisement email sent from a friend that clearly they didnt send
-
yea one of my "old" friends who is a scammer now.....has send me an instant message the past two day in row with a link about free ipad by doing some survey or some shit, each time i insta close out
seriously who the does still click on this shit??...... -
You cant get a virus by simply viewing a web page.
If you keep clicking allow, unblock, run.exe etc. you can tho.
If this was possible I could ship you all a virus right now since this script allows for html to run in a post. -
This thread tilts me because it's misleading and misinformation spread by ignorance. Just what the web and viruses are all about. He wasnt sent a virus. He was sent a link. He clicked the link and now is worried about having a virus. There is no proof that one even ever existed according to the info we have now.
-
calm down bro, clearly he was sent malware of some sort, whether it is nothing but a program that mails out more fake ads for whatever reason, keylogger, spyware, one of those fake virus things, whatever it was it def was something to worry about
-
Malwarebytes.com
it fixes every recent problem ive had. -
This is false from my experiences. I know you're a computer guy (i think) but I have encountered some web-pages while trying to stream movies/tv shows that insta download shit to your computer. No clicking "Allow" "Unblock" etc etc. Shit just bypasses everything.
-
So, you don't like my advice...what would yours be then?

The person thinks he somehow got a virus, but isn't sure. Why wouldn't running those two programs be a good idea to see if he did in fact get something? -
Same thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago, I got the avsoft virus from going to a website while trying to stream a tv show. I never clicked anything at all to download the stuff on.

You're doing way too much, unless you're browsing excessive amounts of porn.

Malwarebytes and avast should do it all.
Superantispyware used to be way too memory intensive, but thing may have a changed. Spybot sucks too besides a few extra utilities it has to offer, which most people wouldn't figure out how to use correctly. -
If you don't know what you clicked on, chances are you should be worried. Just because your PC isn't showing any instant reactions from clicking on the link, doesn't mean somethings not there.

Guess he could just wait until it steals all his passwords, banking information, etc.
