looks megadumb but got some pretty good reviews.....what does OT think?? let us know if you saw it
-
Us? Are we like your alien symbiote now?
-
Movies that are made available to the public through screenings prior to the official release day are usually worth a watch especially when there are significantly more positive than negative reviews.
-
I'm encouraged by the reviews and the fact that the director isn't a hack
-
From trailers I thought "wow jake glynecology sure makes shitty movies" but it's getting great reviews so, eh.
-
Isn't a new Madea movie out this week?
-
How the fuck would I know, do I like like a negr.... errrr no, it's out on the 22nd.
-
I agree with the black guy. When i first saw trailer I thought "uh matrix meets inception meets denzel washington train movie= zzz confusion dumb plot etc"...but the reviews are really good so I'm going see it tonight.
-
Just came back from seeing it and I thought it was awesome. Not up there with Inception but definitely a film that makes you think and its much better than 95% of the drivel that gets released. Word of warning if you didnt like Inception there's no way you'll like this so dont even bother.
Def Jakes best performance since Donnie Darko. Vera Farmiga and Michelle Monaghan were particulary good in support although I didnt quite buy into Jeffrey Wrights OTT weird performance.
Duncan Jones is a potential future Chris Nolan and I cant wait untill his next film.
oh and it was scored by "Chris P Bacon" (seriously) -
I saw this last night and considered making a thread about it but went to bed instead, because sometimes I like sleeping more than I like OT. Anyway...
I agree with murderer 100% (and isn't that a swell thing to write). After seeing Moon and Source Code, I now rank Duncan Jones as one of those directors who I will always give a chance, even if the movie seems dumb. He joins Chris Nolan and Jason Reitman (Thank your for Smoking, Juno and Up in the Air) in that respect for me. -
I thought it was pretty bleh. it was pretty predictable and internally incosistent. it does raise some thought provoking questions that you can take away from the movie but neither the execution nor writing was anything special.

also i thought moon was great. but, there is a pretty big separation, in my mind, between the two. -
this was meh. i also thought moon was pretty meh. the son of david bowie isn't as cool as david bowie.

but it's nice it was made -
Those are great names but no old school directors? Not the obvious ones like scorsese or coppola, but off-beat guys like Gilliam or Fincher? Just curious.

This, particularly the internally inconsistent part.

Yea I was excited for it after reading the reviews but it was pretty... eh. Not terrible but I was just expecting more.
