I do agree, Canadians have a good reputation around the world but it is because you don' have a reputation at all. I don't mean that as a joke or as a bad thing
Hahahah what?
Hard to imagine why people generalize Americans as ignorant, with comments as laughable as these. -
care to elaborate on how it is laughable? Aside from the fact that people don't generally watch music, they listen to it

Elaborate on what? How arrogant you sounded in that statement? You really think the vast majority in Europe is watching American tv? I dunno maybe they do, just doesn't make sense to me.
LOL @ we have a good reputation around the world because we don't have a reputation at all. Please keep them coming, you are sounding more retarded by the letter. -
Syrup, oil, sketch comedy. You guys deserve at least half the credit for Saturday Night Live. Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, etc. Also, your official national sport is lacrosse, of which I approve. I look forward to when the batshit vocal minority in Canada stop being such dicks on the internet. It's putting a strain on a pretty good relationship.

I like when they get incensed at being called our hat. wtf does that even mean? "haha you're north of us" actually works as an insult! looooooooool allsum

american tv and culture is MASSIVELY popular everywhere in the world. you ever left canada? -
this just in - Canada trades hoobangin to the Albany River Rats for 2 rolls of tape, a jock strap, and future considerations.
-
NZ Perspective on things, I barely differentiate between the two of you, North America is North America! Deal with it.
-
Yes plenty of times. I guess I don't watch much tv when on vacation? When I was in Spain i didn't see an american tv channel on once tho. Shit load of soccer was on, and beer was cheaper than water.
-
Unless the future consideration is cancer, I think the Rats got a helluva a deal.

I don't think your posts have merited a real response but lets just say I can go to a movie theater here in Bangkok and 8/10 screens will be playing American films -
hotels tho...if you talk to young kids, they're all acutely aware of american culture

Hahahaha, Canada may have gotten the best of this deal.
Love you too!
Not sure what this means. American channels in the hotels? Makes sense to me since they are trying to make the tourists feel at home i guess? Just saying any bar or whatever I went to never had any kind of American programming on. -
no that hotels aren't going to pay for American channels; talk to any kid or young adult and they know a ton of shit about american culture. clearly in a bar they're going to be showing local sports...it's not like in bars here they show Family Guy
if you really think American culture (tv/music/movies in particular) isn't massively influential worldwide, you're the ignorant one sorry -

I guess i wasn't surveying little kids on American culture. Spain definitely rapes, well Barcelona did anyways. I was in some other place for 3 days prior, that was kinda lame. I ordered some shit for dinner and they brought me some raw bacon lookin shit lol, I thought it was nasty but I guess it is very popular over there. -
aussies gonna aussie obv

lol ok. All I noticed was they all drove smart cars and scooters and there were no fat people. Also when you left your hotel the lights automatically shut off to conserve energy. Seemed way different over there than in the states or in Canada to be honest. Heard maybe a couple American songs in the clubs, other than that no I didn't see a massive influence on their culture coming from America. Just saying what I have seen, no need to get all pissy about it lol.
Also German cops like huger douchebags then a rcmp guy wearing a beaver hat. imo -
Edited By: zeppelinzoso16 Mar 16th, 2011 at 11:20 PMYeah, the country has American channels just for tourists. I don't watch much tv but I have stayed in someone's home in over 20 countries. I have watched American tv everywhere from Indonesia and Nepal to Turkey and Hungary. Everything from national geographic to the Simpsons to Fox News and CNN and everything in between. CNN international airs an edited version of the daily show fwiw. it blows the mind how influential American culture is.Originally Posted by Hoobangin

Can talk about American politics with people all over the world, Canadian politics? ehh. It's not a knock against Canada, it is just reality.
It is rare but sometimes I say I am from Canada because it is easier than saying I'm American. They'll reply "nice country", not because they love Canada but because they don't know the first thing about Canada. They're not going to say "That fucking Stephen Harper...." and go on some rant or tell you what they read in the paper that morning -
Edited By: Hoobangin Mar 16th, 2011 at 11:22 PMThat's cool but are we talking satellite or just basic cable that has a bunch of American programs infused into the lineup? I just find it interesting that this would be the case. Especially assuming how different things were over there for the most part. You ain't ever gonna see a sexy business woman hop on her scooter after work like it ain't no thing around these parts.Originally Posted by zeppelinzoso16

Americans pretending to be Canadians ITT? lol -
Sometimes it is easier, not because we are fat, lazy and ignorant but due to policy and they are ignorant that Canada follows along
talking like I don't remember ever flipping though a tv that didn't have some American programming
