better or not, fedor is as humble in victory as he is in defeat. Something brock cannot say.
-
Please find where I have ever said anything that would make you call me a Lesnar nut-hugger. Good call fucktard.
Randers said perfectly. Horrible fight for the best fighter ever... put your head between a BJJ guy's legs and see what happens. LOL. -
LOL@ anyone calling anyone else a Lesnar nut hugger. Dude is a straight beast. His combination of size, strength, and striking power have never been seen before in MMA. Fedor just got caught, that's all. Anytime you fight someone who specializes in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu it can happen.
-
worked well for him against noguiera.
Holding out hope they still make the fedor-overeem fight? It's shitty for werdum, but it's what everyone wants to see. They gave rogers a title shot after a loss. It would really suck if fedor's next fight was against antonio silva or whatever else they have in the heavyweight division. -
I actually think Carwin will beat Lesnar... ring rust is a bitch, and Carwin is a beast too.

everyone gets caught at one point or another -
This may be truer than some think imo. (And I'm not a conspiracy person, but hmmmm)

vamooo etc
Prolly never a better time for it. -
does this increase or decrease the chances of fedor going to the UFC after his next fight?
-
I was thinking it increases (as long as he doesn't retire) since they now can't make all those crazy demands. dana white is obviously happy, but he definitely still wants him in the UFC.
-
Heres what I think is most likely:
Retires > Stays with strikeforce/different promotion > UFC -
The group that owns Strikeforce is going to wipe it's hands clean very soon when big gate events and PPV shows are getting off the ground.

There's no scenario where that was Fedor's last fight. Save he just clicked off 25mm+ jumping into that open guard. -
fedor is an animal he just got caught tonight.. happens
-
Ya. It happens. It happens when you are a puppet for the world's largest crime syndicate. When Strikeforce finally realize that M1 global has nothing to offer (fedor just lost/took a dive whatever) wtf is he going to do then?
He can do whatever he wants but I won't care until it is on a UFC card.

Sure, backpedal on dana for infinite money or jump into a bjj experts guard and valiantly fight to get out of the sub to no avail.
+400 is a decent price for Werdum amirite? -

I'm a fedor fan, but I don't think he's the greatest fighter in the world. I honestly think if Arlovski had any chin at all, he would have crushed Fedor. He was dominating their fight until his glass jaw got in the way. I would love to see Fedor vs Lesnar. I'm really not sure who would win that fight, but I'd pay big PPV money to see it.

The heavyweight division in the UFC is laughable at best. -
Fedor looked a little more doughy to me int his one. I really dont see him beating brock.
-
My new mancrush is the same as my old mancrush, UUUUUUUUUBEREEEM WILL DESTROY ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
-
I guess it's a natural reaction to exaggerate in your mind how well someone performed when you expected them to get destroyed. This just isn't true, though. The fight was pretty damn even. It looked like he may have some success standing up with fedor going forward, but he didn't capitalize on it much in the first round. I'm guessing they were about even in strikes landed and even though arlovski was the only one to land anything significant I could see some judges giving fedor the round since he had arlovski in the clinch against the ropes for a good portion of the fight. Arlovski certainly has a poor chin, but jumping into that punch would have knocked out anyone.

Gotta love fight promotions. Strikeforce is spinning this into a possible PPV rematch show. lawlz.
http://mmajunkie.com/news/19710/stri...-an-option.mma
M-1 Global executive Vadim Finkelchtein said he certainly sees the advantages of an immediate rematch.
"We'll see," Finkelchtein said. "The future will show. Fabricio Werdum, this is the first fighter who managed to defeat Fedor. That's why I certainly would thing it would be a great thing to have a rematch to be able to prove that Fedor is still the best."
Coker agrees to a point, and with Werdum having already declared he's open to the contest, the Strikeforce exec believes that public interest in the fight might even be enough to drive a pay-per-view event.
"That should be a pay-per-view fight," Coker said. "[Werdum vs. Emelianenko II] is a fight fans are going to want to see. He dethroned the king."
Of course, Coker also said there was no guarantee the fight would land on pay-per-view. Strikeforce's broadcast partners at CBS might also prove interested in the bout.
"To me, [pay-per-view and CBS] are both fantastic," Coker said. "The beauty about CBS is the UFC could do five pay-per-views, and it could be one CBS broadcast in terms of viewership. The viewership [Werdum vs. Emelianenko II] could garnish, it would do 4 or 5 or 6 million viewers.
"That fight could garnish more eyeballs on it than probably any of the big fights CBS has had since it started."
But where would that leave Overeem? The champ was on hand in San Jose, Calif., to witness the proceedings, and one has to believe that had Emelianenko won, Strikeforce was prepared to announced that the Dutch slugger would face the Russian next. Now what?
Coker said to be patient that fight and many others will all happen in good time.
"To me, Fabricio and Fedor is going to be a mega-fight that we should promote," Coker said. "I also think that Fabricio vs. Alistair, the rematch against our champion, is something Alistair is going to want and would be another big fight. I think that he fight between Fedor and Alistair should still happen, as well.
"A lot of it is going to depend on what M-1 wants to do. They will have some say."
How much say remains to be seen. M-1 Global's primary commodity, Emelianenko, just took a big drop in value. Nevertheless, Coker insists the dynamic of the relationship between the two organizations hasn't changed, and he refutes any sort of assumption that his company is now in the driver's seat in regards to the companies' partnership.

So true. I'm so sick of these guys to. I like Fedor but the guy continues to duck top competition and then loses to a UFC reject. Fedor just cost himself millions and hopefully we will no longer see any co-promotion from M1 and Strikforce. Rumor has it Fedor is going to fight Tank in his last fight every.

Rookie mistake by Fedor

Edited By: Randers Jun 28th, 2010 at 05:56 PMDoubt Werdu is a UFC reject. The guy loses in a big upset and Dana turns his back on him cuts his per fight earn in half and offers him opportunities to get back on the main card in PPVs (aka Fight Nights and lower Main card fights). Dana is very results oriented with his fighters and has no patience for anyone that hasn't established a name or has limited marketability to US audiences.Originally Posted by Sledge187

So... Hmmmm. Should Werdum become UFCs bitch, or shop around and find a promotion where:
1. Heavyweight is the feature division.
2. Promotes the biggest single name in MMA.
3. Offers 2-4x what UFC offers per fight.
4. Offers a guaranteed number of fights.
?
Werdum played it right, and won big.
Strikeforce is already pushing for Fedor's next event so don't worry too much. Doubt the Russian Mafia lets him retire anytime soon. -
LOL! Stop making stuff up. You can't back anything up you just posted with any facts. Werdum is a good fighter but not UFC good. Maybe one day he can called back up to the big show but right now he will have to settle for minor league competition.

Sources tell MMAWeekly.com that Werdum's exit comes on the heels of a failed contract renegotiation following the loss to dos Santos. The Brazilian came into the fight with the expectation that he would soon be contending for a heavyweight title shot.
The knockout at UFC 90 derailed anything of the like in the near future, and spurred a renegotiation of his contract. Werdum and the UFC were apparently unable to come to an agreement. He has already opened talks with other promotions in the U.S. and Japan.
After losing his opening salvo in the UFC to Andrei Arlovski, Werdum put together back-to-back impressive victories with TKOs of Gabriel Gonzaga and Brandon Vera, effectively positioning him as one of the top contenders in the promotion's heavyweight division.
Current champion Randy Couture faces Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 on Saturday and interim heavyweight titleholder Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira defends against Frank Mir on Dec. 27 at UFC 92. The winners of those two fights are expected to fight in early 2009, as a unification bout to the UFC mini-tournament.
Had Werdum taken care of business against dos Santos, he was expected to be in contention to face the unified heavyweight champion later in the year. Now it appears he will be moving on to another promotion such as Affliction in the U.S. or Dream or Sengoku in Japan.[/SIZE]

Strikeforce headlines 75% of their cards with heavyweights and have Fedor, Overeem and Werdum to carry their promotion.
It is widely known that UFC underpays their fighters and Werdum obviously said fck that I'll sign with another promotion for more money.
Doubt you could come off as a bigger UFC homer. -
He earned $80,000 for losing to Arlovski and he earned $50,000 for his first Strikeforce fight. Dos Santos got $125K for knocking him out and there fight was not even the headline fight. Werdum earned a $100,000 for beating Fedor and that was the main event. How is he making more money in Strikeforce? Also how is Strikeforce promoting heavyweights because they have only had a few cards that the heavyweights headlined? I hope Strikeforce survives because the competition always brings the best out in anyone but they don't pay there fighters as much as they would get in the UFC. Not really sure how the UFC underpays fighters when they pay more than any other promotion.
