  1. Am buying my daughter a laptop for xmas. The ones in my price range no longer have modems. They have the rj ethernet connection. She live in a small town with no cable modem or dsl buildout so will be dialup or tether to her bb curve. She will get an I phone in 1 month. Is a Modem necessary? All the directions I have looked at for tethering say to put in dial up mode on comp. Would that be an option on a laptop with no modem. I have to get thus soon and don't want to screw it up. Kat
  2. tethering with a blackberry, you only need the cable that comes with the phone when you buy it... Which is a 5 pin to USB i believe... So if that is the same as an iphone, you will not need a modem... someone with an iphone will have to confirm/deny this...
  3. iPhone tethering is disabled in v3.2, you could roll back to 3.01 and apply the thether hack. Otherwise iPhone is not an option at this time and when AT&T does turn it on they are going to charge out the ass for it.
